A Case Study-How to Optimize Content for Google's Featured Snippet to Build More Traffic
Have you ever noticed Google search results that are featured on top of Google's organic results in the box also known as “position zero” on google top page? I have followed few tactic for featuring Naukri Learning an article in the featured snippet/answer box. Now Naukri Learning mostly articles are in the featured snippet.
Now you will be thinking, how you can optimize content for featured snippet to drive more traffic, Increase CTR (click-through rate) like I did? What type of content should you write?
What major tactics you should be followed? How much time will it take to come in the featured snippet?
So, I am going to share my strategy to coming in featured snippet.
What are featured snippets?
A featured snippet is summarize answers to a user’s query, which displayed in Google search results on the top of the page. It provides your answers to questions right away without clicking any website. It helps to increase brand exposure in search results.
How many Types of featured snippets?
Depending on your query google shows three major types of featured snippets:
- Paragraph (an answer is given in text format).
- List (an answer is given in List format).
- Table (an answer is given in text format).

How you will optimize for Featured snippet?
Choose best snippet format
The type of snippet format you choose for your content plays a major role for featured snippet/answer box. For instance, Research shows 29 percent of all snippets are in table format. However, list and paragraph also in trending for Google featured snippets.
Well optimize & eye-catchy Images
Make sure to use ridiculously eye-catching images with proper alt and title tag. Here’s an example (Naukri learning) of List snippet with an image
Use paragraph tags
You should use paragraph (<p>) tag, Answers in a paragraph more likely to capture by Google in featured snippet/answer box.
Word count Matters
Write your content whether it steps, lists, or paragraphs in a concise way. Research shows that word count makes a big difference. “Between 40-50 words is the most common length of content in Featured Snippets” according to SEMrush.
Headers should be Optimize well
To optimize your content for featured snippet, Put search queries in an h1, h2, h3, Headers play a major role in ranking. i.e.
Browse Google for more questions
Just explore Google's own "People also ask” for further topics
Ask Questions in article
Include question words — who, what, where, why, when and how in your article (that may be a heading or subheading)
Build well structure content
Content should be Organize & very factual, try to combine closely related questions in one article, this is the also a great way to structure your content.
Optimize content for voice search
Build content with conversational search queries, and try to target long tail keywords as they are conversational in nature. Write relevant content that answers queries quickly, use semantic search algorithm, its play major role in voice search.
