How I Make 30 LPA As A Content Writer

How I Make 30 LPA As A Content Writer

I'll never think a high salary is a flex…

But this is the most common question I get.

"How do you make 30L as a content writer"?

So it’s only right that I reveal what’s worked on my journey.

I’ve cracked the code to succeed as a writer but, more importantly, I’ve had a lot of fun along the way.

These are the 3 unconventional choices I made to get here.

1/ Patience + Persistence

I started writing online a decade ago.

Medium, WordPress blogs, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter.

I’ve written everywhere and made countless pages and accounts.

Most of them never got any traction. Because most of my writing sucked.

Some people call me talented but my only real talent is that I never stopped writing.

Even when it felt pointless, even when I was writing to an audience of zero people, even when I got tons of hate comments…

I kept going.

I didn’t worry about the results.

I just kept showing up daily.

If you were looking for the ‘secret’ formula to winning the writing game, this is it:

Patience + Persistence = Progress

2/ How To Attract Luck

I hate to break it to you…

If you’re mindlessly bidding for projects on Fiverr or Upwork, it’s never going to work out.

I’m not underestimating you.

It’s just statistics. There are millions of content writers and far fewer well-paying projects on these platforms. So —

  • You’re competing with too many freelancers.
  • You’re forced to undercut their prices.
  • You’re in zero control of your fate.

Instead, you’re much more likely to get noticed if you:

  • Show your work for free on LinkedIn, Twitter, or Medium.
  • Build your personal brand and network.
  • Network with the right people online.

Building in public and documenting your work attracts luck.

People see your writing, and if they like it → they want you to write for them.

Organic discoverability is your best friend.

To attract luck, you must get yourself in front of people organically. Because you can’t get discovered if you never put yourself out there.

If you still need convincing, I’ve made 50L+ as a writer in my relatively short career so far. I’ve never used the freelancer platforms I mentioned above.

Leverage writing platforms to attract inbound inquiries.

In simpler words: if you build in public, you won’t have to pitch and compete. Opportunities will come to you.

3/ Use Geography To Your Advantage

I hated school.

But it taught me two extremely important things:

  • There are 195 countries in the world.
  • You can’t circumvent the economic laws of supply, demand, and pricing.

No matter how skilled you are, if you’re in a market where there’s disproportionately more supply than demand, you’ll never be able to dictate the price.

I love India.

But it has so much supply of every profession that you’re forced to cut prices.

(Plus - everyone’s always looking to get the best deal possible - it’s just the way we've been brought up).

To put it another way:

Content writing has zero value in India. Why?

There are too many content writers here. Why?

Because getting started needs no certification or degree.

So too many people become content writers.

But it’s still only the top 1% of writers who make 99% of the money.

How? They use the global power of the Internet to their advantage.

The world is a big, beautiful place. As a writer, the biggest advantage you have is that you can do your job from anywhere. You can also work for anyone sitting in any part of the world.

Making money in foreign currencies is a cheat code for building wealth. The new world is location agnostic - nobody cares about where you live if you can get the job done.

I write for some of the most successful people in the world today from my tiny desk, wearing shorts all day long.

I haven’t worn pants in a long time. Okay, this is taking a weird turn - but you get it…

Use living in India (or any developing economy for that matter) in your favour.

A recap for memory:

→ Building anything of value takes time. Stick to the process.

→ Luck can be manufactured. Make yourself seen.

→ Don’t limit yourself to your home country.

I'll say it as often as I can. Find a way to qualify your impact which means working with clients to measure your performance. If you don't you'll have what everyone else has: a portfolio like every other writer out there. Do what few are doing. Show off your work and talk quantify tts value.
