How I Made The Decision To Leave…
It’s funny really. Opportunity really does knock when you least expect it, or more accurately, when you aren’t really looking for it. That’s life in general I think. We can only really map out so much and think ahead, because as COVID proved, you never know what’s just around the corner.?
But I’m getting ahead of myself. I’ve only just come to terms with the idea of leaving MMPWW after seven years, multiple promotions, a change of office and one executive MBA later. Life seems to be on fast forward now as I write this amid work handovers, ongoing campaigns and client meetings. And that’s just it. Things move on. Nothing can stay the same forever. We all need to take a risk when perhaps we are most comfortable, or vulnerable, even.?
The background to making this decision wasn’t a straightforward one. When is it ever?! It’s been on the periphery for a while and actually took months for me to accept this new role. Personal development is equally as important as professional prospects, so when it comes to making my mind up about anything, I make a pros and cons list that considers EVERYTHING.?
Having it in black and white in front of you makes all the difference. It allows you to understand exactly where you are in your life right now, and crucially, where it is you want to go in future.?
Ultimately, my new role will kickstart the next big leap of my career. A new market to get to grips with, new cultures to learn, and new teams of different nationalities to manage and help progress.
It’s a fresh challenge and Saudi is such a fascinating and exciting place right now, on the cusp of change with still so much ahead of it. For those of you who are already at the airport waving me off, I’ll still be Dubai-based, only clocking up a lot more air miles than before! That’s the beauty of today’s working world isn’t it? Remote, flexible, online, in the office, anything is possible.?
I think it’s more important than ever to consider what you really want out of life today. I’ve spoken before about my passion and drive, so while a shift in career maybe wasn’t on the cards for me right now, I was always open to the possibility. We’re in an always-on world, each day is different, every decision a stepping stone to get you where you want to be.?
For example, my Executive MBA has opened a lot more doors for me since completing it last year. I’m now considered in a different sphere of candidates, which makes all the sleepless nights and constant juggle worth it. I could see the end game and it spurred me on even more.?

Right now, the biggest emotion I feel is relief, like the weight of the world has been lifted as I’ve come to terms with my decision. It’s mixed with sadness to leave a team behind that has become like my second family to me and anticipation as to what will come next. I’ve been on a staggered incline of progression and now it’s about to become much steeper! Does that scare me? Sure, a bit. But overwhelmingly I feel excited to extend my legacy in a new direction.?
One thing is for sure though, I won’t forget the path I’ve taken to get here. The things I’ve learned at MMP, from becoming a leader that is approachable yet can set boundaries, to helping others to grow and achieve their full potential, it’s been an overwhelmingly positive experience.?
People can make or break a business, and at times, I think we are all guilty of underestimating how shaping a positive culture is crucial to getting results. These are the ‘heavy lifters’ of the office, the ones that keep everything on track and moving forward. I’m very fortunate to have both worked with and mentored some exceptional talents in my career so far, and this is what I will continue to prioritize in my new job.?
So, this is my final Linkedin post as Managing Director at MMPWW, I dedicate to all of my team, co-workers and fellow leaders at the company. Seven years ago I walked in and made this place my home. They gave me the opportunity to fulfill my ambitions and grow. I wish them all the best as they continue to embark on more exciting journeys ahead, going from strength to strength and continuing to set the agenda for regional digital advertising.?
For now, I’m signing off for a few weeks of ‘rest’ (ha) before I take on my next challenge and climb my next metaphorical mountain. And with that, as the former president once brought into popular culture… Nader, Out.?
