In January 2024, I unlocked a new milestone in my LinkedIn journey — I generated $11,743 in passive income.
This achievement wasn't accidental; it was the result of a strategic approach, finely tuned to the process of building a one-man brand and business.
Now, I want to share the blueprint of this success, laid out in 9 actionable steps, enabling you to take a similar path towards your freedom.
1) Post daily content solving a problem.
2) Read all comments to gather data.
3) Use data to define your offer.
4) Create an MVP version.
5) Give it out for free.
6) Gather feedback.
7) Refine solution.
8) Sell it online.
9) Scale.
Let’s dive deeper...
1) Post Daily Content Solving a Problem
The cornerstone of any successful online business is value.
By posting daily content that addresses specific problems faced by your audience, you establish authority and trust.
This consistent value delivery is critical in building a loyal following.
The problem that I solve is “how to build a successful online brand & business as one person”.
Here are some posts for example:
This not only delivers value, it creates a brand around you and boosts your authority.
2) Read All Comments to Gather Data
Engagement isn't just about replying to comments; it's an opportunity to listen.
Your audience's feedback is a goldmine, revealing pain points and desires that are ideas for building your offerings.
If you want more information, ask more questions. Simple as that.
Do this in comments and the DMs for the ultimate data combo.
I’ve found that the data you get from having boots on the ground is more valuable than crazy big data sets that span too far and wide.
This is because the people you speak to are your ideal customers.
I kept getting comments like…
3) Use That Data to Define Your Offer
Leverage the data to create an offer that easily solves your audience's problem.
With the comments I kept getting over and over again I saved them in a spreadsheet and made a tally against them.
This was old school but it worked fast and easy.
I then thought, “What solution will help these 400 or so community members?”, which led to me developing an MVP.
4) Create a MVP Version
Minimalism is key.
Launch with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that delivers on your promise without overcomplicating it.
This lean approach allows for flexibility and optimisation which is essential for creating a product that works.
For me, because all the questions from the comments could be answered with practical advice, I decided to create a course called The LinkedIn Leverage that held all the answers the community were looking for.
Then I created a waitlist even before I created the course to see if there was enough demand for it. Luckily there was and I had gotten 250 people on the waitlist in a few weeks, and launched within the next 2 months.

5) Give It Out for Free
Generosity creates goodwill and invaluable feedback.
By offering your MVP for free to your community, you not only improve your solution based on real-world use but also build a cohort of early adopters.
The decision I made to give it out for free was not only to gather feedback, it was to generate success in my community. Because I was grateful that they spent the time commenting and DMing me with the valuable data I needed, I wanted to give back.
The best way to give it out for free is to advertise your product in your LinkedIn banner and URL like this:
And in your content like this:
Always aim to drive traffic to your landing page, and keep the process simple.
6) Gather Feedback
This stage is critical.
If your product sucks, you want people to tell you.
Once it’s out there the feedback from your early users is the most potent source of data. Listen carefully, and be prepared to update the solution based on their experiences and suggestions.
Luckily for me, most of the basics were covered well with The LinkedIn Leverage course and I had a tidal wave of students come in and take it. After 4 months it is now at 1,500+ students and 300+ 5-star reviews.
This prompted me to figure out what was missing at the advanced level instead of trying to optimise it.
7) Refine Solution
Armed with feedback, refine your product or service. This iterative process ensures your offer meets the market's needs as closely as possible, increasing its value and appeal.
For me, because the free course did so well, I realised the same audience would want to understand the highest level answers and practical applications of it. Which led me to create a paid course - The LinkedIn Solopreneur.
You need the followers to generate the profits, so logically it made sense to produce a course that revealed how I did just that.
8) Sell It Online
Now, with a polished solution, it's time to sell.
Because I already had an audience I knew that was looking to succeed on LinkedIn with their brand, I simply created a new waitlist on a new landing page and advertised the paid course to them directly.
This created a waitlist of ~150 who were ready to purchase on Day 1 + I had a list of 1,500 who had taken the first course.
9) Scale
With the foundation set and sales coming in, focus on scaling.
I automated my processes through a streamlined funnel, and now I get sales without having to send email blasts or outreach emails.
Eyeballs from a high volume of people who are looking for the exact solution produces sales.
Simple as that!
This is how I made $11,743 in passive income on LinkedIn in Jan 2024.
Yes, the initial phase requires work—thoughtful, strategic, and data-driven actions. But once the system is in place, it transitions into a source of passive income, offering not just financial but also personal freedom to pursue more of your passions, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy life's pleasures without the constant worry of income flow.
The road to passive income is paved with effort, insight, and a touch of creativity.
By following these 9 steps, you're not just earning money; you're building a legacy of freedom, autonomy, and personal fulfilment that works for you while you sleep.
