How I Left Home At 20 Years Old and Started Traveling The World

How I Left Home At 20 Years Old and Started Traveling The World

It all started in Los Angeles in December.

My best friend Rob and I were in LA for a short, week long trip to explore the city and hang out together.

Rob says to me one night "Hey bro, I'm going to Colombia for a month in January. Would you be interested in going?"

Me being the 20 year old I am says.. "Ehhh, I don't know. I don't think I can afford it"

Later that night I was looking at flights to Medellin, Colombia. I said casually to Rob "Hey what days are you going to Colombia again?" Rob "January 21st-February 21st"

"Cool. Well, I've thought about it and F**k It! I'm going." I proceeded to book my flight and got excited!

After almost getting arrested in LA for trying to climb the Hollywood sign I got home and told my family I was going. My mom quickly responded with "You'd better get your passport then." lol

I booked a flight out of the country without a passport!!! ahahahah That's that 20 year old F**k It mindset for ya!

Anyways, I came home. Got my passport situation figured out. Had a great Christmas with my family and gave them all a present I didn't think would come this soon. The gift being...

"Well, I'm moving out. Going to Colombia, Las Vegas, Portland, Cabo San Lucas, Hawaii, Cancun, and Colombia again."

Obviously, the questions came pouring in.

Why?

How are you going to make money?

Can you afford that?

You know Medellin is the coke(cocaine) capital of the world right?

Those countries aren't like home. You should really be careful.

Etc, etc, etc...any question you can think of was hurled my way.

To be quite honest I only had a vague idea of how I was going to make money while traveling and so that's what I fed everyone when the questions came.

But to be quite honest I was scared.

Hella scared!

I was leaving home and not coming back for over 3 months until I came back for my best friends birthday at the end of March.

Sh*t, I was going somewhere I had never been with only 1 person that I knew.

I was going to a place where I didn't speak the language.

I was going to a place where no more than 25 years ago was ran by the biggest and most well known cartel leader to ever live. Pablo Escobar.

I was freaked out!

Not to mention that I was going there not knowing if I was even going to have an income.

That is honestly what scared me the most!

Not knowing if I was going to be financially secure. That's scary!

Nevertheless, January 20th rolls around and I'm saying my goodbyes to friends, family and my cat. :) I packed up everything(Way too much lol) and made my way to San Francisco to my cousin's house where I was staying before flying out.

January 21st came quick! It seemed like just the day before I was in LA with Rob.

Next thing I know I'm hugging Rob in the Miami airport about to board our flight to Medellin, Colombia.

We arrived and it was glorious.

The people were friendly.

The food was amazing.

The beers were cheap.

And the language is easy to learn.

After our month long trip there I felt right at home in our neighborhood of Envigado.

I started working like I never hadd.. With focus that I never had. With intent.

I all of a sudden was inspired by so many different things.

The different cultural things Colombians did and said.

The design of different things. The perspective they had on life.

Everywhere I went I was inspired creatively in one way or another.

And as an entrepreneur, I knew I needed to continue living like this. Continually having new inspiration and creative thoughts are what drives new things within a business.

I sat down and did the math. How much do I need to at least survive while living this lifestyle?

What's the bare minimum I need to make per day, per week, per month, to survive?

I did the math. Found a business opportunity that would create more than enough to survive on.

And got to work!

The one thing that's allowed me to live this lifestyle is Putting in the WORK!

Whatever it is you must put in the work!

After spending 3 months of putting in the work for this business and getting the results necessary to live the lifestyle I realized I wasn't happy.

I was spending time emailing and talking with people on a subject that I 1. Didn't really care about. And 2. Knew very little about.

I was chasing the money. Nothing wrong with that but what is wrong with that is that it didn't make me happy.

I sat down by myself one night to really figure out what I wanted to do because I knew for a fact it wasn't what I was currently doing.

After that night I spent the following week really digging deep to figure out just exactly what it is that I can do extremely well, that I actually enjoy doing, and that can make me the money necessary to live this lifestyle.

It came down to 2 things.

  • Riding my motorcycle. Could eventually create the income necessary but it would take to long and probably ruin my love for the sport. So that's not it.
  • Influencer Marketing Consulting.

Yes! That's it!

I'm amazing at it.

I can create amazing results for anyone by using my knowledge of influencer marketing and Instagram.

I can create an income to continue living my current lifestyle. Can even increase the luxuries in my current lifestyle. Stop worrying about buying things I want. Things I want to get my family members and friends.

Yes! That's it.

I'm amazing at it and can create the results necessary for clients to continue using my services.

Great!

I have what I need now.

The idea.

The know how.

Now all I need is clients. Sweet!

Let's get rolling! If you have a brand or business that needs help on Influencer Marketing I'm your guy!

If you made it all the way down here I want to say thank you.

Thank you for caring enough about me to read my thoughts/experiences. I appreciate you.

Here's the ebook I wrote on about launching your first successful influencer marketing campaign www.idealinfluencers.com/getmyebook
