At least that’s what I believed.

Why?

Because that’s what I was telling myself …

… and I believed myself, after all I was right, wasn’t I?

I made the long trek up into John’s office and there he handed it to me …

… the dreaded white envelope.

It could only mean one thing … the end of the road.

He made an offer I simply could refuse.?

It was an ultimatum; work for 6 months for free or leave.

Believe me, there was only one viable option … resign. I took the letter, left never to return.

It all started so well, when he asked how much I wanted to run his clothing business.

And then 4 months later he decided he was overpaying me; I wasn’t what he thought I was - a salesman.

The relationship had broken, despite me presenting him with the best business plan he’d ever seen, the alure of building a brand and … he asked to name my own salary.
