How I helped raise $135,000 for local non-profits.
How I did it

How I helped raise $135,000 for local non-profits.

I don’t know about you, but I didn’t wake up one day thinking, "Hey, I’m going to help raise over six figures for a local non-profit." But guess what? That’s exactly what happened!

Let me set the stage: Picture me, juggling 3 kids (literally, they’re like tiny circus performers), managing my slightly chaotic life, and still finding the time to help out an amazing local non-profit. Because, let’s be real, change doesn’t happen on its own, right?

Cue the mission: helping our community, one fundraiser at a time by putting the FUN back in FUNdraising! When a super public official gets excited to meet you, you just go for it! So, I took a chance and rolled the dice on meeting Tony Boni, the local Mayor, and let’s just say—it paid off big time!

Now, I’d love to say I had a secret formula for raising $135K, but the truth is, it was more like controlled chaos and A LOT of heart. I teamed up with some incredible folks (shout-out to my super supportive partner and the entire Be The Change Today! team). We organized events, rallied volunteers, and poured passion into every single moment. And somehow, it all added up in a big way!

On top of that, I got to flex some creative muscles. I designed the logo, helped get it trademarked, and handled all the marketing and social media. ???? Our efforts connected with nearly 10,000 people in less than a year (while I was also a full-time student at Full Sail AND working full-time there—yes, multitasking level 100!). Talk about wearing many hats!

So, how was I able to do all of this? Well, I’m currently in my Bachelor’s program at Full Sail, and when they say they have a real world learning platform, they aren’t kidding. I was able to use Be the Change Today! Foundation for at least 6 of my months as part of my coursework and got some much-needed feedback from my instructors. That feedback? Was GAME-CHANGING for me!

But here’s the best part: It wasn’t just about the money—it was about uniting people for a cause much bigger than any of us. There were laughs, a few tears, and way too much pizza consumed (thanks to one of our amazing supporters from Chianti's Italian Restaurants)! ????

So, why am I sharing this?

Because sometimes, life surprises you. And even when it feels like you’re just barely holding it together (you know that feeling, right?), you might just end up making a huge impact. And trust me—if I can do it, ANYONE can.

If you could start a Non-Profit what would it be in?

This is an amazing story. It is inspiring and helpful. It opens up my mind and heart to look for ways to help non profits or to start my own. Hats off to you for pushing through everything to get it done. Juggling all that had to ne difficult, but you did it. You had support from your instructors and you had a team to work with on the project. It sounds like you were in charge of the team/the one they looked to for answers and motivation. If that's the case it shows you are a good leader to. Job well done. I love your heart to want to give and help others.
