How I have used the Business Canvas to Build a Business.

When I just started working on building Lion Development, we had many services to offer and a list of clients we wanted to target from various fields. Yet, our sales pitch was long - big mistake. Also, we were not closing as many sales as we wanted to. My business Coach and Consultant, Dr. John Swartz,  mentioned to me the business canvas, and within a few training sessions and reading about it, we were able to minimize our value proposition, and increase the power of the services we provide at Lion Development. This helped us to generate a customer niche that is profitable, and create a more confident winning pitch.

Profitability is not about doing many things, but doing one thing very very well - Ajit Nawalkha

In this toolkit you will start by describing your customer segments; sometimes it is more difficult that we think, but if you get to understand the meaning of the different segments, you are right on your way. One of the key benefits I see here, is the way it allows you to break down your value proposition in a way that it gives meaning and strength to your service or product. This canvas also shows you the different channels you will use to target your customers, whether it is through a video, website, landing page, blog, online store - you name it, it can be added it here.

Sometimes as business oriented individuals, we forget about the brand's voice of our business. This canvas allows you to create a business model that tells you how to create and maintain customer relationships. Remember, not every client is the same, thus relationships need to be well maintained.

Have you ever thought about other ways in which your business can make extra revenue? There are countless ways to do this, but everything needs to be written and broken down to ensure the success of these strategies. With canvas, you can look at the different revenue streams such as registering to achieve something - for example an e-book or a course, creating coaching services online and many more. One of the main parts is the key resources! What do you need to run your business? A computer, an office? What about personnel? What about the key activities and people you should partner with to continue growing your business? It is important to break this up so you can easily understand the flow of your business.
