How I have lost 40 Lbs!
My name is Ian Hopfe and I’m a 41 year old overweight male with diabetes. My father died of cancer when he was 52 and his father also died in his early 50’s from a brain aneurysm. Bottom line…I don’t want to die in 10 years or less!
What have I done?
- First, I read the book called “How Not to Die” by Dr. Micheal Greger. I have now read this book 4 times.
- Second, I drastically reduced my meat, meat product, and processed foods intake along with other suggestions from the book. I work to be whole food plant based but I don’t beat myself up if I have meat now and again.
- Third, I have increased my antioxidant intake as much as I can. Turmeric, Amla, Ganoderma Lucidum, and soon CBD oil are the major ones. I also use cinnamon, cardamon, and ground cloves a lot. My favourite way to get most of these high antioxidant spices into my diet is by having a fun smoothie!
- Forth, I drink a lot of tea now. Mostly Green and Hibiscus teas because they are very high in antioxidants.
What I have not done?
I have not started ANY sort of exercise regiment. I’m an introverted insecure “fat” guy and the pain of thinking of exercising in public. Even just walking around the block is a very hard mental challenge for me. I hope that as I slowly lose the weight I will gain more confidence to be active in public. With how healthy I have already been I know that just a little exercise would speed up the process.
