How I Got in to nearly Every Door I Knocked

I will share with you 7 secrets I used as a record-setting, door-to-door saleswoman.

While others were topping out at 7-10 showings in a day, I was getting 12-15. All while wearing high heels!

  1. Choose the right neighborhood
  2. Choose the right house
  3. Talk to the right person
  4. Show up at the right time
  5. Ask for the sale, but don't ask for the show (I will explain)
  6. Tell them what you want
  7. No means, not right now. Set yourself up for future success

1) Renters don't buy (unless you're selling candy bars or steaks door-to-door). Typically if one home is rented, they all are. Go a few blocks down.

2) Homeowners usually take good care of their investments, so look for well-maintained homes. Keep your eyes open for "buying evidence." Pink flamingos, windchimes, and cars not parked in the garage are all evidence of buying habits.

3) Don't waste time on the gatekeeper, such as babysitters, or mother-in-laws visiting. Ask upfront if there is anyone else that is the primary decision maker in the household.

4) Find out when the primary decision maker will be home and come back then!

5) Your show can be a natural extension of the conversation you're having, try "hang on let me show you." -OR- if appointments are set, simply let them know when your reps will be in their neighborhood and offer a couple of options for times (not options for the appointment).

6) Don't be sneaky, sly, or dishonest. Tell them, straight up, what you want from them. If you aren't pushy, but rather helpful, people will often feel good about helping you achieve your goals.

7) A no means...no. But, maybe next time. Make friends and set yourself up with a Golden! primed territory for the future.
