How I Found Peace by Letting Go: A Journey We All Can Relate To

Have you ever felt like life isn’t going as planned? Whether it’s your career, relationships, or personal goals, if you’re still figuring things out (at 28 or any age), this article is for you.

I spent a long time believing I needed everything figured out by now—like having a stable job, the perfect relationship, and a clear path to success. But I’ve realized that life doesn’t always go according to plan, and trying to fit into the idea of "having it all together" was actually holding me back.

Right now, I don’t have those things, and I’m learning how to be okay with it.

The Struggle We All Face: Learning to Accept Ourselves

This year, I made the decision to stop fighting my own emotions. I used to believe I had to always be on top of my game, never feeling down, but the truth is—it’s okay to not feel okay sometimes.

As women, we experience different cycles in our lives – both physically and emotionally. Our hormones go up and down, and some days we might feel extra hungry, while on other days, we might feel more emotional or even a bit sad. It's completely normal!

The secret is understanding our bodies and being aware of these changes, rather than being caught off guard each time. Embrace the fluctuations and learn to ride the wave!

Living in the Present: A Lesson We All Need to Learn

This year, I made a shift in my mindset. Instead of constantly worrying about 'what’s next,' I started to appreciate the little things: a meaningful chat with a friend, a peaceful moment alone, enjoying a delicious meal, a refreshing walk, discovering a great podcast, laughing at funny YouTube videos, or sharing reels with my besties on Instagram. It’s the small moments that truly bring joy!

I also realized that true happiness isn’t found in only big achievements; it’s in the simple things we often overlook. Whether it’s the song that instantly makes you smile (for me, it’s the ones from Palestinian and Lebanese artists), the food you love (I’m all about light meals with fruits and veggies), or the outfit that makes you feel confident (I’m a fan of simple, classic, colorful styles – I’m not into anything too chic or oversized that doesn’t reflect who I am. I prefer a more natural look, with little or no makeup – I never go for heavy makeup). It’s the little things that truly make us happy!

I've tried so many different hobbies and explored various topics, but I’ve come to realize that my true passion lies in writing, reading, and speaking. I’m especially drawn to writing about history, particularly issues related to Arabs and Muslims. It’s something I deeply care about, and I feel passionate about shedding light on these important matters.

I absolutely love sunny days because the sunshine truly makes me feel happy. As for gloomy days, even though they’re not really my thing, I’ve learned to embrace them. It’s okay to enjoy the cozy vibes at home – lounging in pajamas, wrapped in a blanket, sipping a hot drink, and watching the rain.

Where I Am Now: Happy, Even Without All the Answers

I’m still figuring things out. I don’t have all the answers when it comes to my career or personal life, and honestly, I’m okay with that. Sure, 80% of the time, I’m at peace with it, but sometimes I still struggle, trying to push myself to do bigger things. I know it’s not the best healthy approach, but it’s the only way I know. If you have any tips on staying motivated without pressure, I’d love to hear them!

It took me years to get to this point, and while I do know not everyone reaches this level of self-awareness, I can confidently say that I’m exactly where I need to be.

What about you? What is your story?
