How I find the best AI tools (and how you can too!)

Every week, I come across new AI tools—some game-changing, others overhyped. The challenge isn’t just finding AI tools; it’s finding the right ones that truly add value.

So, how do I do it? Here’s my simple, repeatable process:

Leveraging AI newsletters

I subscribe to AI newsletters because they keep me updated on industry trends. Many newsletter authors share AI tools they’ve come across, and while not all are great, I always check and evaluate them. A 5-minute scan of a newsletter can uncover some very useful AI tools.

Sponsored promotions

Few newsletters also promote AI tools, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t useful. Many creators disclose sponsorships, and I make sure to assess the tool on its own merits. Surprisingly, some of the best AI tools I’ve found were actually sponsored. The key? Dig deeper—try the tool, read user reviews, and see if it solves a real problem.

Leveraging Twitter

Before trying a tool, I search for it on Twitter to see what people are saying. The replies often provide unfiltered insights—what works, what doesn’t, and whether the hype is real. Pro tip: Look for tweets from actual users, not just the tool’s marketing team.

Using AI to find AI

Sometimes, I turn to AI itself to find AI tools. I ask ChatGPT or Perplexity for recommendations based on a specific use case. This is how I discovered Replit and Bolt, both of which turned out to be incredible finds. AI-powered search can surface hidden tools you might not have come across so easily.

Exploring sub reddits

If I want brutally honest feedback, I head to Reddit. Subreddits focused on AI, machine learning, and automation often have users sharing niche tools that haven’t hit mainstream yet. Reddit discussions call out real-world pros and cons of AI tools.

Being abreast with AI trends

Hundreds of AI tools launch every single day. As open-source models become more accessible, companies are innovating at an insane pace. By keeping an eye on AI news, I stay ahead of the curve and track promising new releases before they go viral. DeepSeek was one such thing that ended up trying before it went viral and broke perceptions about tools from AI gaints.

Search for a use case, not just the tool

Instead of blindly looking for the “next big AI tool,” I start with a specific problem. For example, if I need help automating company news tracking or generating free newsletters, I search for solutions rather than just browsing tools. This targeted approach leads to more relevant, high-impact discoveries.

Is there an AI tool for this?

Sometimes, I find myself doing a repetitive task and wonder: Is there an AI tool that can do this for me? That simple question has led me to some of the most useful AI tools I now rely on. If you ever feel like a task is taking too long, chances are—there’s an AI tool for that.

Staying curious

At the end of the day, curiosity is what drives me to find better, smarter ways to work. The more I explore, the more I realize how AI can simplify both work and creativity. The key is to stay open-minded and willing to test new tools.

Looking forward to hearing about how you find and use AI tools in your daily tasks!
