How I feel about error correction

I have been a teacher of English(ESL and EFL) for more than 30 years now and I'd like to present you with two aspects of teaching that experience has made me consider most important. Firstly, I used to be very worried about NOT marking mistakes or showing learners their errors all the time. Time and experience have proved me wrong. The more we focus on the mistakes, the less confidence our learners or participants develop. Why is that? Because no one wants to speak freely if a person is interrupting and marking their mistakes all along. So, if you want your learners to participate more in your classes or sessions, please give some feedback afterwards, and avoid interruptions unless there's a communication barrier that makes it unavoidable. Second and lastly, I'd like to share with you how I see myself as a professional, I do not think I educate, I humbly help people unlock and free their potential and speak better English. How do I do that? Paying attention to people's needs, not to my needs, if you are trying to help someone who has come to you for help, the focus is on them, not on you. Feel free to DM me to share more ideas. I'm Mariana Fernández, I help people speak English
