How I failed at selling the first time..

Sure, who doesn't .. not many actually. Selling is the easiest gig you would do infallibly well but I couldn't, I failed miserably.
You would wonder how amongst a population of so many and businesses so large was I not able to find the demand for what I was selling.. and I shit you not it was breath taking and ground breaking what I sold. (As much as I wanna write "I was selling Dreams" I won't )
I was selling a customized "Business Dashboard" where you could have had control on your business totally and absentmindedly. And I am talking about 2013, when every other salesman at your door was promoting app for customers I came with an app for the business to tell them how they can improve their sales. Well, sounds like a hoax doesn't it? :D
We had data analytics and business intelligence proprietary technology that no one could match yet we could not figure out how to sell it better, we had something very few companies in the world had and yet we were struggling to even be able pay for ourselves. However, we knew that may be its too early for market to accept something like this. So, I did it the easy way out, asked the business if I can make their website instead which will have an additional page of a dashboard where they can monitor their business remotely anytime they want and get actionable insight for better operational processes.
And, that worked.. boo yeah! I had nailed it but not the way I should have. So even though I sold what we made, I failed at selling the idea..
Aint that what people have to accept from you to become your influencers and give you an acknowledgement that it works, concepts which work are the ideas rest are just dreams.
