How I evolved MedTel to develop healthcare for all !!

MedTel has started with an aim to bridge the patient-doctor gap where patients are not able to get specialist doctor instantly at an affordable price. The goal is to complete the patient cycle from his mobile or nearest MedTel digital health clinic. My passion to find the problem, understand the same and look for the frugal, scalable solution helped me to design & build the web and mobile platform with my technology team. I have stepped into the shoes of each stakeholder and understand their psychology, habits and daily routine to design the process flow of application and algorithm for all use cases.

 

I prepared the business strategy, organization chart to evaluate and understand the product, pricing, placement, and promotion. This led me to create different vertical and based on our monthly, quarterly and yearly targets, I have planned for leadership hiring with right attitude and ethics as the important criteria. I created a core team of 4 members for operations, marketing, technology, and supply chain and was personally looking into fundraising, product development of both software and hardware, business expansion including the relationship with top clients.

 

The initial model of digital health clinic franchisee started within Tier 3 – Tier 6 cities of Odisha, Andhra & West Bengal and created 700 clinics in 9 months with 250 active centers monthly handled by 25 members. Patient application designed in a way to create consultation request with complete health record and options to choose for audio and video consultation with specialist doctors. Whereas 60 doctors out of 250 empaneled were actively engaged using the data analytics tool based on the consultation volume and disease patterns. Furthermore, doctors took only 5 clicks to complete a prescription within 2 mins. of completing the consultation. Team has been aligned to use machine learning from initial days to reduce the manual interaction and bring the AI effects and auto-triage of medical health. In this way, the mobile application has been enhanced to take up the traffic of 30,000 patients per month.

 

Introduction of IoT Medical Devices, Medicine Distribution, Diagnosis Tests, Referral Appointment or IPD cases were the next phases of MedTel Platform which has been subsequently planned, managed and assigned to team members. We went into great horizontal advancement of MedTel as each described case required detailed execution and funds. We have raised initial social funds from DFID UK through Invent program and subsequently, I have presented the model to the Petroleum industry. We got a strategic partnership with BPCL with an expansive network of 2000 petrol pumps to open MedTel Health Clinic across India and secured Startup India fund of ?10 Million.

 

My entrepreneurial journey went further to focused on generating profit or raising funds for expansion, however, we became operational profits in 12 months of operations. This reached to a level where we got few acquisition proposals from giant healthcare providers where I have decided to start the new innings at this junction.
