How i Ended My Marketing Frustration and Discovered The Missing Link

Hi I’m Chris and I help business owners end marketing overwhelm and create sustainable growth.?


It hasn’t always been that way though.


After a career in army music, I spent 30 years in Corporate IT Project and Programme Management and I was coaching team members before the term ‘coach’ became fashionable.

I’ve always had a passion for personal development starting with my desire to get better O Levels in 1980 to now being a Certified Trainer of NLP, Hypnosis, NLP Coaching and TIme Line Therapy?.


I’ve run my own company for 20yrs and one of my biggest challenges has been marketing. I’d always seen marketing as something mysterious…until now!


Like many coaches I got hooked into content and attraction marketing and thought all I needed to do was post content and the people would come. I got sucked into the belief that the more you post, the more they’ll come and I was puzzled why I wasn’t making the progress I expected.


The origin of this big change is back in 2009; I’m in a hotel bar in Rouen (France) with a Telecoms Sales Manager.


He asked me “What's the difference between sales and marketing”? I couldn’t answer!


He said “Marketing is creating the need for a product or service, sales is fulfilling it”. Put another way, marketing is the strategy and sales are the tactics we use.


The big problem was that I ignored that wisdom and focussed on selling my services as an NLP coach and more recently as an NLP Trainer.


The truth is I really struggled with marketing!? It seemed like some sort of dark art, filled with mystery and, boy, was I frustrated! I had these amazing, life changing gifts, knowledge and world class expertise, I had an amazing set of tools and didn’t understand how to successfully market them!


The reality and learning was stark. I’d lumped marketing and sales together and treated it as one. I guess that’s how the industry sells it, they call it Sales & Marketing and put the cart before the horse.


I knew I could achieve much more than I was doing. The reality was I didn’t know how to, and I know I’m not alone! I’ve spoken with many coaches recently, who are doing just like I did:

?Using sales tactics that aren’t right for their audience

?Posting on platforms where there audience isn’t looking for a solution

?Swapping ‘coaches’ because the tactics aren’t working.


And yet, they're still missing the one piece that could make the difference.


I, too, knew something was missing, just as those other business owners have.


The trouble is we’re all sold on the tactics and I’ve learned so many over the years:?


? Lead generation?

? Content creation

?Content Repurposing

? Copywriting

? Facebook ads

? Google ads

? How to use Linkedin

?How to run Webinars


Add that to the knowledge and skills gained from 30 yrs in corporate business and the 800 hours of NLP Training I’ve done, I’ve amassed an immense knowledge bank,

?that my clients benefit? from - still something was missing!


I worked with some great coaches - all great at selling their way of doing things and yet I was still confused …



?? Use facebook - don’t use Facebook

?? Use linkedin - don’t use Linkedin

?? Create a website for SEO - don’t use a website

?? Bloggin is dead

?? Email marketing sucks?

?? Build a facebook group - don’t build one until you hit £20k months


.. and so on … you get the picture and are probably just as confused as I was!.


The big question is ‘Who’s right’? What works for one, doesn’t necessarily work for another.


You’ve probably had the same experience and have invested thousands of pounds in tactical training and coaching and you’re still trying to figure it out.


And then it hit me like a steam train - the missing piece!.


It was my partner who inspired this. She kept saying I should do a specific marketing course and I resisted for many months, saying I knew all this stuff and I didn’t need more - I was wrong and hadn’t realised this was the missing piece!


The signs were there, the nudges and now I felt compelled to act.?


Something inside of me shifted and it was big!


Here it was with the missing piece …

??The strategic planning work I did in corporate life

??The experience of working with clients on their business strategy

??The questioning techniques I’d learned

??The personal development skills I’d accumulated.

??Social Selling


The emotional and physiological shift in me was so big, it’s been noticed … by others!


Time moves on and I did act, I did accept the nudges and I’m well on the way to completing my Digital Marketing Diploma with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.


I’m on my journey to be a Chartered Marketer and to change the way a 1000 businesses market their expertise and achieve the incredible results they duly deserve .


There are so many business owners out there doing exactly what I did and using sales tactics that aren’t right for their audience and in a place they’ll never engage their audience either. It’s like fishing with the wrong bait in a pool of overfed fish, they’ll never bite.


I’m on a mission to change that and help you learn from my expertise.


I’ve called it the Growth Trifecta, combining Business Strategy, Marketing Strategy and Personal Development.


I haven’t even created the company/brand and headline yet and I have several clients who are already seeing the benefit from my help, ending their marketing overwhelm, knowing exactly how to market their business and achieving demonstrable results.
