Huh ? Say what?

More often than not, people say we should “not try this at home”. But my advice is this: go for it! Do this at home! You have nothing to lose. But a chance...

Do this at home !

A chance to make yourself even more visible. Worldwide, in the era of digital space. And if you’re a salesman, an entrepreneur or even a job seeker, that this is definitely for you.

If you’d like to know what do all 3 mentioned statuses have in common, keep on reading.

Soon, all of them will have WorkApp in common. Because WorkApp is more than an online store or a jobs portal.

But let me tell you a short story…

I do interviews with people from all over the world. And one of my first interviewees was Shane Wallace, the CEO of the mentioned revolutionary mobile appIication. I never thought that anything (but the interview) would come out.

Our 2 hours call was charming and we talked about a lot of things, not just business. (Obviously, since, as you may already know from my #ValuableDiversity interviews, I want to pull out the person behind the business, first and foremost).

This is how I do it…

However, once this respectable man presented me with what his mobile app can do for people – for FREE – I was instantly intrigued. So, after I published the interview, I just went on and had a look at WorkApp.

I liked the logo, first of all. Because is simple – 2 main colors (blue and white), yet represents the globe, which instantly gave me that feeling of worldwide human interconnection. When I found out that it was created by a co-national of mine, who has won a contest for this, that brought me even closer at heart to this app, since I deeply felt the integrity behind it. What company cares so much about someone across 7 seas?

But let me come back to WorkApp’s features after I tell you a bit about the concept behind it. I think that was actually what boosted my curiosity, in the first place.

In the interview, Mr. Wallace revealed a few key values that I find really appealing, especially as we’re talking about a mobile application here:

  • Each and every small business will find a place in the app, as the idea started with “We want even the plumber that has a small establishment at the corner of the street to be discoverable”.
  • Security of data. They took the story of Facebook, analyzed it and acknowledged that users’ security should come first, even before the design was sketched.
  • Fairness. No one can buy their places in top listings. Every user/ company needs to put some effort in this. (I’ll come back to this when talking about the technical features).
  • Ads policy. I, for one, dislike the adds popping up and disrupting my reading or the activity I run in the digital space. And they considered that. Their ads are strategically placed, somehow even hidden, when running user main activity on the front page.
  • Adaptability. In a time when users tend to slowly shift from PC to mobile more and more, they chose to focus on this minor detail. Though they have a regular desktop website as well (www.workapp.world), their main attention went to the mobile app and everything runs smoothly, on both most used operating systems.
  • The question “Are we afraid to fail?” Considering the fact that the app was conceived by someone who never had his hands on a PC or a mobile app before, I think the answer is pretty clear: they were prepared, but faced the challenge of a new era.
  • Simplicity. Even though the app is a really complex one behind the scenes, the user experience is very well taken care of, so that everyone can use it, in a matter of minutes.

Innovative features

And this, takes me back to the technical details I promised above.

Besides the logo, I’m a fan of color blue. And the entire the platform is covered in good vibe because of the abundant use of this color.

Let us now move on, to the “listings on top” aspect, as I mentioned it in previous points.

If you want to be seen on the “what’s fresh” area and advertise yourself and your business for free, you need to hit the Refresh to Boost button each morning. Nevertheless, your free listing will still be shown at the top results, if you’re the closest.

Let me show you in an example. The little green button over there does the magic. But you need to take one at a time. Below, I have created a business profile and an event, for this particular review. If I want to boost them, I need to do that individually.


Talking about listings… There’s another interesting feature you may consider. At the moment, the app allows 9 pictures to be placed, for showcasing your product or service. But, in the near future, it will allow unlimited number of photos, as well as a 5 minutes video per listing. And you can have unlimited listings. Maybe one for each service you provide…? You never know who needs your services, in you area.

Tip: you need to have location activated on your phone, in order to be discoverable and see the closest venue you’re looking for. GPS does the trick .

 

Think about it: for a real estate agency, for instance, is obvious why the video feature will be golden. But what about the following cases:

– You’re a musician? Well, you can now show the world, on the best platform you’ll find, what you’re best at; moreover, you can get a chance for a record company to find you;

– What about a coffee shop? You, as business owner, may want to show your nearest prospects what they may be missing if they pass by your shop, placed in the corner of the street or on a back alley;

– Do you fix cars? Show everyone what you do in your garage, that no-one knows about, and attract new customers;

– You own a nails salon or a barber shop? Join WorkApp, place a video and you can thank them later.

I could go on with a wide range of examples, yet I guess you got the main idea.

Then, what can be best than transparency? Remember that genuinity attracts the right customers!

If you’re a freelancer, then this app will definitely bring you the opportunities you’re seeking. On the other hand, are you an investor, looking for valuable ideas? Stop by and find the most brilliant investment opportunities.

Just be consistent in using the refresh feature every morning and advertise your business for free. I think it’s worth the effort, since everything else comes free.

Tip: Remember that using the “Refresh to boost” feature is needed solely if you want to advertise yourself for free. You will still be in the top listings area, if you’re the closest.

 “What’s fresh?”

This feature lets you discover the newest listings, starting with the most recent one. As I used the above refresh feature, the business I created for this review will be listed the first.

Tip: in order to see the latest appearance in this advertising area, you will need to press the globe icon near the “What’s fresh in Workapp?” headline.


 

 

After the listing I made, the most recent one will be displayed (here showing 49 mins ago). Also, as you can see, locations from all over the world are included. Just look a bit left from the time display and you’ll understand what I mean.

 

 


 As soon as you’ll fall in love with this free app for everyone, you will – inevitably – want to share your listings So, let me help you with that. The blue arrow at the right of your name does that easily. 

 Moving on to the lower features bar, this is what we have, from left to right:

Search

I think the print screen below speaks pretty much for itself, in the means of what are the search criteria that you can use.

  • All” option brings you the first closest answer to your search, be it worker offering their services or businesses.
  • Business” only displays the closest business, according to your search;
  • Jobs” options displays the closest AND most recent job listing, in your area. However, you can choose to go for “Worldwide results” if you’re interested.
  • Tasks” displays all requirements categorized as such (screen-shot below),not as jobs. You can add your own tasks and others can discover them, once you make them public. 
  •  “Worker” displays the latest work requirement and a tag-line about what the individual has to offer.
  • Classifieds” displays listing ordered by keywords (e.g: “crystals” displays all products that contain this word). This works for both products and services.     
  •  “Real Estate” besides the obvious, 9 pictures can be placed for each listing. Feature available for all types of listing.
  • Auto” is dedicated to cars listing.
  • Community
  • Events” includes all event types, from all over the world, starting with the newest
  • People” allows you to connect with individuals you may be interested in doing business with.

All searches display another actions bar (as the one to the left), containing: add to favorites, bookmark (for later come back) and share. As you choose share and select the user, the listing will be sent as regular message. But once the receiver clicks on it, it takes them directly there. The category (“classifieds” for this very example) is automatically displayed at the top.

Messenger 

A feature you should definitely try is the incorporated  messenger  that allows everyone to quickly interact and makes business easier to get closed. Would you like to know what’s special about it? Well, in my opinion, it’s a merge between WhatsApp, your phone’s personal contacts agenda and Skype. That includes: message read notification, typing, last seen, attach files, record audio, call, create groups, etc. Also, at the top, you can find the “enquire” option (screenshot to the left), making it even easier for you to get additional information about what you may be interested in.

Billboards

Another interesting feature is the Billboard one. The interesting thing is that anyone can have one, but that can’t be boosted. Yet, it can be used further on, after the modic amount of 20$ is paid for the purchase. More interesting? Regardless of the Search you’re running or of your expectations, the Billboard will only come up after 7 free listings.

Tip: Once you bought a WorkApp Billboard, you can share it on all your social media channels. Think about your personalized banner, for the lowest price ever.

Conclusions

The best about this app? You’ll always be in your prospects’ area range and, if you’re a job seeker, you will not have to worry about the safety of your job any longer, since now you have all jobs at your fingertips, in one single app. No commissions to be paid, for anyone. Neither for you or the company that lists it.

Ratings & Feedback

There are many other amazing features you will discover, but I’ll let you unveil the magic yourself.

Last tip I’ll give you is that I tested the app on 3 different Android mobile devices: HTC 10, Huawei Mate 10 Pro and LG Flex 2. Different years of release, different processors and other technical specs, as well as different operating system versions. It works smoothly on all of them. No crash, no freezing. I would give it more than 5 stars if they were available 

Overall ratings are: 5 stars on IOS (since there’s only iPhone to run the app on) and 4.4 stars on Android, due to the multitude of compatible devices.

Moreover, since they believe in continuous improvement, feedback is always warmly accepted. Their email address can easily be found while checking their app on Apple Store or Google Play.

Over-all, this app is everything one could desire from a mobile application. And, remember the best part: it’s free and it will always be! As their slogan says: “WorkApp works for you!”.
