How I am giving back to society and how Salesforce is helping me in that?

Most of us are keen to give back to our community, but often end up asking ourselves – “what, where, and how on earth can I fit it in?” As someone who likes to volunteer for the events, I can tell you that, no matter where you are in the world, there are a lot of ways you can volunteer your time (whether short term or long term) and really make a difference.

Giving back to your community through volunteer groups, non-profit organizations, charity or other means does so much to help those in need and contribute to the common good. You can give back in different ways, by giving money or giving your time. No matter how you do it, giving back to your community will touch many people’s lives. Whether it’s volunteering at a local event, helping a neighbor, or making a monetary donation, it’s not the act that matters. Even the teeniest good deed can ignite change and positively impact the community by providing a renewed sense of hope.

I have done a couple of volunteering in my childhood, college, and I will always continue to do that. It always makes me happy when I see smiles on the faces of the kids and the people. Those smiles always make my day, I am sure it will make your day too :).

In my childhood, I used to visit NGOs and I used to go from one street to another to distribute food. During my college, I regularly went to the HOPE NGO on weekends. We were a team of about 40 people in the HOPE Jaipur chapter. I used to teach the kids and play with them for 3 to 4 hours. It always made me so happy. Apart from that, I also used to celebrate my birthday in Orphanage Home. We used to collect money from the bakeries and craft items made by NGO children. We used to hand over the collected money to the NGO representative for the wellbeing of the NGO kids. We also took part in Nukkad Natak to spread awareness of different things that were going around us.

Even during my Job, I have been doing VTO regularly. Salesforce is giving me a lot of opportunities to give back to society. The best part about Salesforce is that it provides opportunities for VTO in every area be it mentoring, spreading smiles by coloring, donation, etc. One can always find a way to give back to society in his/her own way.

Some of the most memorable VTOs that I have done at Salesforce are:

  1. Distributing Food Items: This day I and my brother went to an NGO named EK PEHEL and celebrated my brother's birthday with NGO kids. We distributed snacks and pastries. The NGO children made the day really special for us, they did some dance performances, decorated the place so beautifully, and gave a beautiful handmade card and a decorated candle to my brother.
  2. Foundation of Hospital Art: This is a foundation that aims to bring hope and comfort to the people in healthcare facilities around the world. In this VTO, I used different colors for painting and wrote a beautiful message for the person who was going to receive that painting. I gifted that painting to a patient in the nearby hospital. He was an old man. Seeing this painting made him really happy and seeing him happy made my day too :).
  3. Inc-QUIZ-itive #PWD session: This was a VTO event, it was regarding the celebration of the International Day of People with Disability by celebrating the Human Spirit. This day aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities. It was a very interactive session and we played a lot of games like Kahoot, MCQ, one word etc. With the help of these games, it became much easier for us to actually know and understand a lot of new things.

One of the things that I like most about Salesforce is its 1:1:1 model. Salesforce’s 1-1-1 model is known as one of the global leaders in integrating philanthropy and business. This model of philanthropy is based on the commitment to giving back 1 percent of your resources, technology, and time. I last I would just like to say:

GIVE TIME! GIVE LOVE! GIVE SUPPORT!
