How I was able to manage a college event despite the difficulties I faced
Organizing a college event was a dynamic and challenging journey that tested my leadership skills, patience, and ability to adapt in ways I hadn’t anticipated. Right from the beginning, coordinating a team with diverse perspectives and work styles was one of the most significant challenges. Each person brought unique strengths and preferences, which sometimes led to miscommunication and misunderstandings, requiring me to foster open dialogue and ensure everyone felt heard. Beyond team dynamics, managing authority and getting necessary approvals proved complex as well, often involving multiple layers of decision-making. This process taught me the importance of assertive yet respectful communication, as well as the patience needed to align everyone’s goals. And, like any live event, we faced our share of unexpected issues, from technical malfunctions to sudden cancellations that demanded quick thinking and flexibility. I quickly learned the value of having backup plans and staying calm under pressure. Despite the hurdles, the team successfully brought the event to life, and seeing it all come together was deeply satisfying. This experience taught me invaluable lessons about resilience, effective teamwork, and the importance of clear communication. I’m confident that these insights and skills will be invaluable as I take on future projects and challenges.
