How Hyland Innovation Award winners are driving transformative change

At CommunityLIVE in Maryland last month, we unveiled our bold new vision and The Content Innovation Cloud, a unified content, process and application intelligence platform that will allow us to empower customers to AI-enable their enterprise content wherever it resides — including third-party repositories.?

The goal, as detailed in this news release and in this video of our CEO, Jitesh S. Ghai , from the event, is to drive our customers to more informed decision-making and strategic action, while ensuring governed and secured access to content and application of AI.?

Exciting stuff!?

A day later, though, we did something equally as important: We recognized five remarkable organizations as winners of our annual Hyland Innovation Awards. These companies have harnessed Hyland technology to unlock critical intelligence within their content and use that intelligence for good.?

Check out how each company is leveraging Hyland solutions in their communities or industries:?

Innovation Solution: Baptist Health?

Baptist Health faced inefficiencies with redundant manual processes despite integrating OnBase with Epic and other systems. To address these issues, Baptist maximized its OnBase solution by deploying robotic process automation (RPA) and pre-processors, which streamlined tasks like document retrieval and processing, often without requiring a human touch. This led to significant time savings -- one process, for example, saved each manager 180 hours, or 23 work days, per year -- and improved overall efficiency in document management and indexing, enhancing operational productivity. Bots were also integral in supporting Baptist’s migration to the Hyland Cloud, reducing outage times by 25%. Beyond bots, Baptist’s innovation with pre-processors has saved over 40 hours of health information staff time weekly while supporting a streamlined approach to splitting and redacting lock box files.?

Finalists: City of Port Orange, Florida; The California Department of Health Care Services?

Transformative Solution: Turks and Caicos Islands Government?

The Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG) faced inefficiencies due to manual processes, long service wait times, fragmented data and security concerns. By implementing OnBase, government officials modernized their recordkeeping by digitizing documents and automating workflows. This upgrade resulted in faster processing times, better data security, reduced costs and improved accessibility for citizens. The successful deployment of this scalable solution has positioned TCIG as a regional leader in digital governance and significantly enhanced public service delivery.?

Finalists: Grupo EULEN; Town of Mooresville, North Carolina?

Environmental/Social Impact: Ada County, Idaho?

Ada County’s Bridge Youth and Family Resource Center was established to divert low-risk youth from the juvenile justice system, where formal processing often leads to negative outcomes such as increased recidivism and lower graduation rates. The center faced challenges in managing case data and connecting youth to community resources, and the inadequacy of off-the-shelf case management solutions led officials to customize a solution leveraging OnBase. This tailored solution streamlined referrals, managed case data and enhanced communication with stakeholders, resulting in improved service delivery and positive outcomes for over 275 youth and families since March 2023.?

Finalists: The Municipality of Querétaro, Mexico; The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center?

Innovative Partner: iik Technologies?

iik Technologies partnered with Banesco Dominican Republic to address remote operation needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the pandemic hit, there was no single digital record for customers, accentuating that critical need as accessing information in physical form hindered and slowed service. iik and Banesco implemented Alfresco Content Services, providing centralized document management and advanced filtering. To mitigate code dependency issues, iik developed a user-friendly configuration module that reduced implementation time and costs by up to 90%, with added cost savings resulting from no longer needing significant physical storage space for paper documents. This solution enhanced flexibility and efficiency, significantly benefiting Banesco’s digital transformation efforts.?

Finalists: AmeXio; REQUORDIT?

Digital visionary: Erie Insurance?

With nearly 7 million policies in force and more than 14,000 independent agents, Erie Insurance is among the United States’ largest property/casualty insurers. This 100-year-old company is partnering with Hyland to achieve its goals of providing policyholders with as near perfect protection and service as is humanly possible – at the lowest possible cost. Hyland provides a complete enterprise platform, with solutions for HR and claims, with 4,000 active users in the system. Erie is one of the first customers to complete a cloud-to-cloud integration between Hyland Cloud and Guidewire. And it is the first Hyland customer to transact the Hyland Cloud on the AWS Marketplace. Erie is working closely with Hyland to replace IBM content manager with OnBase.?

Finalists: Amazon Web Services; McKesson; Rabobank; Toyota Motor North America?
