How Homestead Exemption Can Save on Taxes in Your New Florida Home
We’re always looking to save more on taxes on our homes. Every exemption and break are important during the tax season and this year is no exception.
This time last year, a past customer of mine had just purchased his new home and moved his family to their new Florida residence. While comfortable living in their new home, just selling them this house wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to make sure they loved where they lived. I knew that saving on Florida’s property taxes would help find that love.
With my help, my customer and his family saved over $600 on property taxes.
This is done by filing for Homestead Exemption, something that many new Florida homeowners unfortunately don’t know about.
Homestead Exemption is a benefit granted to Florida residents settled into their primary home on January 1 of the taxable year. You can file anytime during the year, but before the state’s deadline of March 1. Filing now can save you up to $750.
