How to HIT Your Goals, Without Constant Hustle
Clay Green
Learn and implement the secrets of successful leaders. Are you in a..., starting a..., or do you WANT - a transition? **I support the US Constitution as a Veteran, and I stand WITH Ukraine. Can't be 'normal' these days.
Actually hitting our goals comes down to way to many variables, let's be real.
This article could easily be 'the 7 steps to good goal setting', or '5 strategies to achieve'... BUT - it normally always comes down to JUST ONE thing - not 5 or 7!
How you feel about this goal, or this goal setting process, or this goal hitting strategy is THE thing that will determine if you actually USE the process, or strategy!
We've ALL been there! Actually, we all ARE there, aren't we? If you don't have any goals or dreams, then why are you even reading this, right?
So - we're THERE! We have GOALS!
You've heard all this before, right?
Goal setting tips:
- Set Big, ambitious, heartfelt goals
- Set a Deadline
- Break down the steps into an executable plan
- etc... etc... etc...
My question is: "What is stops you?"
Facebook? LinkedIn Articles on goal setting? YouTube? Or more real world based - family time, kid's appointments, relationship, car wash or house cleaning?
No - the thing that ACTUALLY stops you, believe it or not, is how you feel about what you're doing.
IF you were excited about the upcoming ski trip, finishing the flight and hotel reservations is NOT a problem - is it? Then why is completing a necessary tiny step in this project - like that step, that one tiny 'to do' so frustrating?
How you feel about 'it' is the answer. Making today's tiny goal THE most critical thing you will EVER DO - then, that tiny step would get DONE, wouldn't it?
I'm more of a 'bottom line' guy. I can help you figure out the right goal setting process and steps, for you, no problem.
I can help you uncover a big dream and set an amazing goal from that dream too!
We can even easily break it down into manageable projects and easy to accomplish tiny, daily steps!
BUT - nothing will get done, unless YOU feel GREAT about doing it! Actually - great, or panicked.
Panicked to the point of fear of death.
You've heard that 'Want it as bad as you want to breath' story, yes? If not, here's a great telling: LINK
Here's the rub with that feeling - It's not sustainable, nor healthy. Panicked, fear based, "I'm going to die if I don't..." works, no question. But can you sustain it? NOPE.
Necessity is what us High Performers call that habit.
There are other forms of necessity, other than 'fear of death'.
Self Identity is one example, otherwise known as: "When you believe it, you'll see it."
There are examples of this everywhere. Pick someone you know: Lady Gaga, Trump, Muhammad Ali, Lebron James, and there are a LOT of others that are less famous - your boss, the cop sitting on the corner, and YOU and I!
Right now, Lebron's world is based on the fact that he was told, chose to believe, and has lived the things necessary, to be the great basketball player he is today.
You and I have an image in our minds of ourselves. We are living into that image every day.
Who do YOU see, you being, in 2 years? in 5 years?
THAT is the easy way to take these steps. Either work yourself into a 'do or die' situation, or simply see, then believe, then KNOW yourself as that person.
When that happens, everything required on your path to your goal, becomes simple.
No more will you stress about not enough time to do it all - you're focused on how, today, regardless of quantity, you KILLED IT in ONE tiny area that took you closer to your goal.
It really is that simple.
Then, when you feel GREAT that you did something wonderful today - tomorrow is just 'normal'.
Stop 'striving' or 'loving the hustle' and find YOUR groove!
You got this!
