One Team Member shared his experience as an adoptive parent. “My wife and I have fostered for many years,” said Wayne H., a customer care agent. “We cared for our son, Gabe, as a foster child in 2019 when he was 10 months old. I’m the only father he’s ever known.”

Gabe was in their care while his birth mother was getting back on her feet and working towards a positive home for Gabe. However, tragedy struck when she unexpectedly passed away in a car accident. “Gabe’s biological grandmother gave my wife and me temporary custody of Gabe. We immediately filed for full custody and officially became his parents in 2022, thanks to Hilton Grand Vacations’ adoption assistance program,” he said.

“When I learned about adoption assistance, I was overjoyed,” Wayne said. “For our family, it wasn’t the amount of financial assistance, but the fact Hilton Grand Vacations cared enough to support us in our adoption journey — the company didn’t just talk the talk but walked the walk .”

“I was also happy to learn that my parental leave options as an adoptive parent were similar to families welcoming birth children,” he added. This meant Wayne could take the time he needed to welcome Gabe into his family, thanks to his team. “The team — management, supervisors, team leads and agents—embodies ‘one for all and all for one,’ from ‘The Three Musketeers.’ We grow together.” When one Team Member succeeds, the team benefits, Wayne explained.

That's so sweet. As someone who has experienced a loss of a child, and has struggled to become a mother again, this is truly moving. I have considered adopting often lately and it is beautiful that you support this and help your employees to become parents.
