This year, most colleges and universities have pushed back deadlines for acceptance and deposits to June 1st. This gives high school seniors an additional month to consider the financial aid offers from the schools they were admitted to. If cost is a driving factor, it is essential to compare these offers as each will undoubtedly be different. Those that appear to provide the most dollar assistance may, in fact, cost the family more in the long run. 

Remember that this offer of aid is just that, an “offer.” The student does not have to accept it. They can accept only certain parts of the assistance being offered or even submit an appeal and have the offer reviewed.
