How Hi-Tech innovation is powering South Australia's future

South Australia’s Hi-Tech sector is crucial to the state’s future economic success with Adelaide building a strong reputation for excellence across defence industries, cyber security, robotics, machine learning and connectivity.

You have to go no further than Lot 14 to see our state’s emergence as a global hub for entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Australian Space Agency, Australian Institute for Machine Learning, MIT bigdata Living Lab, Life Whisperer and Presagen sit as proof of our state’s world-class capabilities alongside new players including the Mission Control Centre and Australian Space Discovery Centre and Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre. Similarly the Tonsley Innovation District, Technology Park and the Defence Super Cluster bring together the most cutting edge technology across defence, aerospace, engineering, advanced electronics and ICT sectors and see starts-ups and scale-ups sitting alongside established global companies.

More and more organizations are choosing South Australia as the ideal base to grow their technology business from Amazon Web Services to BAE Systems, Microsoft to Southern Launch and Tesla to Datacom.

World-class capabilities in data analytics, artificial intelligence and virtual reality also power sophistication in industries such as health, renewable energy, food, agribusiness and manufacturing.

South Australia has demonstrated a rare ability to rapidly scale to meet the skilled workforce needs of global technology companies, and provides the infrastructure, safety and security from which businesses can grow over the next decade.

Here in SA, we are proud to have fostered a strong relationship between government, industry and academia. These key relationship have cultivated a high-skilled workforce, developed cutting-edge research and created a highly competitive environment that supports profitable investments and makes South Australia a place where your business can truly innovate and grow. There is no better example of this than the world-first collaboration between business, government and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to establish Adelaide’s MIT bigdata Living Lab. The Living Lab sees the public, private and research sectors join forces to analyse big data to identify how we can drive sustainable population growth, create jobs and strengthen our economy.

Hi-Tech South Australia – May 2020 heroes this reputation for innovation and excellence by bringing together key businesses and stakeholders to help boost exports, drive direct foreign investment, grow the state’s key international partnerships and showcase South Australia ingenuity to the world.

You can hear from some of the brightest minds in the Hi-Tech sector in May through a number of webinars on topics such as blockchain and cryptocurrency, cyber COVID-19 impacts and its effect on digital infrastructure, how SA transformed from the traditional to Hi-Tech economy and what next for our state.
