How HERE fosters Talent Mobility - Interview with Stass Borm, Senior HR Manager at HERE
Earlier this month, we launched a revitalized, company-wide Talent Mobility program, empowering our HERE employees to develop themselves for their career growth and progression. The program also enables the company to better tap into our incredible talent pool more effectively than ever: ensuring we have the right skills at the right time in the right place to support innovation and to achieve our business objectives with speed.??
We discuss with Stass Borm, Senior HR Manager leading Talent Mobility at HERE, to learn how the program benefits all employees who are ready to own their professional development – and also get her tips for future applicants.
What is Talent Mobility for you?
Stass: Talent Mobility is an employee’s ability to move between positions or roles within the same company. It allows HERE to dynamically develop and align our workforce to strategic business needs. By fostering our employees' skills, experience and career interests, we enable them to move internally to different roles where existing skills can be sharpened and new skills can be developed.?
Our employees are our biggest asset, and we believe in the talent of our employees. Ensuring that we have an agile and flexible workforce increases our efficiency and future-proofs our workforce. Focusing on Talent Mobility can open new avenues to discover, develop and nurture our talent.?
How does Talent Mobility work at HERE?
We have three main "avenues" as we call them: projects, internal recruitment and mentoring.?
Projects: Project opportunities are temporary in nature and help employees learn and apply expertise and skills separate from their current role. To achieve that, we have a dedicated platform that matches opportunities and skills. It is a great way to try out a different type of work outside your comfort zone while also taking on a new challenge and meet new colleagues and teams.?
Internal recruitment: As the name implies, we encourage our employees to explore internal positions within the organization. Once they find a relevant opportunity, they can simply apply for it.??
Mentoring: Mentoring offers a crucial way to foster internal knowledge transfer to support our employees’ talent development. By connecting experienced leaders to upcoming leaders and individual contributors, we’re enabling our colleagues to further grow professionally and personally via career conversations and professional networking.?

Like probably many other HR managers, I want to ensure that our employees can thrive and are excited about their work. I want them to think about their current role at HERE and where they want to grow, so they can start creating a path towards those aspirations.?

Ultimately, my goal is to make HERE a better place to work. I just know instinctively – and, by the way, the data confirms this – that if people have the opportunity to own their careers, they will be more engaged, which will lead to higher performance. ?
