How to Help Those in Need of Healthy Meals

How to Help Those in Need of Healthy Meals

The Greater Cleveland Food Bank has kicked off its 34th annual Harvest for Hunger Campaign. As a co-chair for this year’s campaign, I’m hopeful that you will consider supporting this incredibly important cause.

Every donation makes a difference. With $5, a child or senior can be fed for nearly a week, while $10 can provide 30 meals.

No child should ever go hungry. No family should be unable to feed their loved ones. This is why Cleveland Clinic is committed to addressing food insecurity and making sure we're sharing our resources to support the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and the Harvest for Hunger Campaign.

You can help too by donating directly to Harvest for Hunger online at? www.HarvestForHunger.org or in the checkout lines at Buehlers, Dave’s Markets, Giant Eagle, GetGo, Heinen’s Grocery Stores or Lucky’s Markets.

Local employers are also crucial to this fight. Workplace drives and employee giving initiatives are at the heart of this campaign and are vital to its success. Last year, more than 200 companies, schools, nonprofits and governmental entities in Northeast Ohio participated by providing monetary support and organizing food and fund drives – raising over $2.1 million.

I am proud to say that last year Cleveland Clinic raised just over $42,000 through our employee food and funds drive, providing 126,000 meals.

Healthy, nutritious food is one of the cornerstones of good health. And we need everyone’s support to provide meals for families, seniors, and others in our community who need help.
