Today, world over – chronic diseases have taken over our lives.
These chronic diseases have become an integral part of our lives and is impacting our lives as individuals and as families.
Every other person that you meet is suffering from one of these 4 chronic / lifestyle diseases.”
1) Obesity,
2) Heart-related problems including conditions like hypertension,
3) Cancer, and
4) Diabetes.
A staggering 80% of all medical expenditures (~ 4.5 trillion dollars) in the United States is spent towards treating these 4 lifestyle diseases alone.
In other words – the USA spends more than the entire GDP of India, (which is 5th largest economy in the world) each year just to treat these 4 diseases.
Shocked? Yes – that’s true.
Despite this huge amount of money, time & energy being spent on the treatment of these 4 lifestyle ailments – 2 out of 3 deaths in the USA are caused by these 4 diseases.

Clearly – the modern healthcare system is not adept at healing or curing these 4 diseases despite huge amounts being spent.

So many of us end up making these chronic diseases our lifetime companions.
Once a person contracts these diseases – he / she keeps taking medicines to manage these diseases.
And with each passing year – usually, the dosage of these medicines increases.
This robs a person of their sense of well-being or wellness.
This also impacts their emotional and mental health.

As a human species – how did we reach this state?
How did we allow these 4 diseases to become an epidemic?

The answer lies in the profound shift in our lifestyles over the past few centuries.
In earlier times – several centuries ago, we led lives that were intricately connected to Mother Nature's rhythms.
Rising early, tending to livestock, working in the fields, relishing freshly prepared nourishing meals, and nurturing our emotional bonds with family and neighbours and a healthy sleep routine were integral parts of our daily routine.
Our lives were harmonized with the natural world, and chronic diseases were rare.

Fast forward to the present, and we find ourselves in a different scenario entirely.
The transition from an agriculture-based economy to an industrial one, and eventually to a knowledge-based economy, has led to a sedentary way of life for many with negligible physical activity.
Some of us remain indoors in air-conditioned environments and rarely spend time in the Sun.
Many of us have stopped preparing 3 wholesome fresh meals a deal and are substituting this with processed or purchased food.
Packaged, processed foods laden with preservatives and sugars have become our dietary companions.
Biscuits, Chocolates, Chips, Wafters, Carbonated Drink, Packaged Juices etc have become an integral part of our lives so much so that most of us don’t even consider these as unhealthy.
Ordering & Eating Outside Food has become the norm in cities and towns.
Today – most of the agricultural produce is grown using chemical fertilisers and pesticides. Our food is filled with these chemicals.
Disrupted sleep patterns further compound the problem, leaving us fatigued and unrefreshed.
Chronic Diseases are an outcome of the cumulative impact of these changes in our lifestyle.

Chronic diseases are beginning to haunt us collectively as a species.
And modern medicine offers no cure, merely symptom management.
Medications, often chemical compounds themselves, have become an integral part of life, yet they fail to address the root causes.
Does this mean – that we have to suffer with these chronic diseases for the rest of our lives?

But there is hope, and it lies in creating a new lifestyle.
People around the world have reversed these conditions by embracing natural living.
There are a lot of turnaround stories on the net.

A few key aspects of this realignment process include:

It all starts with going to be bed on time – anywhere between 8 – 9 pm.
Our body heals very well between 9 pm and 12 am. Deep rest during this time accentuates the healing.
Getting up anywhere between 4 am to 5 am is very beneficial for our mind, body, and heart.

So – a sleep cycle from 9 pm to 4-5 am is very beneficial.
It’s important to let go of all of our worries and sleep deep.

Early morning physical activity is very helpful – go out and play or cycle, or swim, or exercise.
A combination of yoga, pranayama, stretches, weight training, and cardio are very useful.
Also, running, dancing, dancing and zumba are very helpful.
Doing different types of physical movements keeps your body flexible and in good shape.
Also – you feel good and energetic throughout the day.

Also – Vitamin D is very important for your body.
When you spend time in the Sun – your body absorbs the light and makes the vital Vitamin D for you.
It also brightens your mood.

Our diet plays an equally pivotal role.
Fresh, home-cooked, organic, vegan whole food forms the cornerstone.
A significant portion of our diet should consist of high-prana, water-rich foods, like salads, raw vegetables, and fruits.
Avoid:
1.???? animal food (poultry, meat, eggs, milk, butter, cheese, ghee etc)
2.???? packaged food (biscuits, chocolates, wafers, chips, carbonated drinks, fruit juices etc)
3.???? Fast Food (Pizza, Burger, French Fries etc)
4.???? Intoxicants (Drugs, Liquor, Cigarettes, Tobacco etc)
This shift away from animal products and chemically enhanced and chemically preserved foods to an organic, plant-based, whole-food diet significantly benefits our bodies.

Do things that you love. Follow your inner calling.
When you do that – you not only feel content and happy – but also you touch the lives of those around you.
You begin to experience abundance in its truest form.
And yes – do move out of the rat race.
Working to earn money or accumulate wealth is not a very contributive way of living life.
However – following your inner calling and doing things that you love doing while touching the lives makes your happy and content.
