How to Have a Great Me-Set During the Holiday Break

How to Have a Great Me-Set During the Holiday Break

4 Ways to Feed Your Soul and Show Up for Yourself

?How many times have you looked forward to the holiday break, only to show up back at work in January still feeling like your personal fuel tank is running on empty? Been there, done that, #Firestarters . So I get where you are coming from. Let me assure you, though, that it’s possible to have a break that’s both fun and restorative. The secret is practicing what I call The Great Me-Set . Now, if you’ve watched my recent TEDx Talk , you know that I am super-serious about taking the time you need to feed your soul and truly show up for yourself. And the holiday break can be a great time to do that. Here are a few ideas for turning your break into your very own Me-Set.

Take the Pressure Off of January

?Have you been telling people lately that you’ll catch up with them in January? If so, you might already be starting to feel overwhelmed about what’s ahead in the new year. There’s a really simple fix for this, though. Instead of scheduling all your meet-ups in January, give yourself all of the first quarter of 2023 to prioritize conversations. That way, you can cultivate your relationships while still giving yourself time to settle into the new year, catch up, organize and set goals.

Build Me-Set Time into Your Days

Did you receive some gift cards or even cash this holiday season? Take that holiday bounty and invest into things like meditation apps or LumenKind Mindful Marks . Having tools like these will make it easier to make me-time a part of your everyday routines. Remember, the goal is to move from doing to being. You could also use your holiday cash to start saving for a restorative solo trip, which I call a “soulcation.”

Put It in Writing

I love writing out my Me-Set plans and insights in my journals and on my calendar. There's just something about writing by hand instead of typing. It slows you down and helps you focus on what’s right in front of you instead of rushing off to do the next thing. I also believe that simply writing something down starts bringing it to life.

?If you don’t have a paper journal and calendar that speak to you, you have my permission to add them to your shopping list. Need some recommendations? I tend to use the Panda Planner , and BestSelf Co. products for my day-to-day work organization. I’m also starting to use Grit & Virtue products for meditation, journaling, and manifestation notes.

?Get Lost in Something You Love

Is there anything more freeing than just letting your feet or your mind wander? This doesn’t have to be anything big, fancy, or time-consuming. What if you just played tourist in your city for a day? Or what if you let yourself luxuriate in a reading or TV binge? (You can find me savoring some historical fiction or “Harry & Meghan” on Netflix.)

These are just a few ways to make a Me-Set part of your holiday season. Now it’s your turn. I want to know what you do when you need a Me-Set. I’m looking forward to trying your tips!
