How to have a 'great day' in the Office!

Alarm clock goes, and that feeling of dread slowly starts coming over you.. Arhh, the long drive to work, the traffic, the meeting first thing where you will get your ‘ass’ chewed off because you haven’t hit target, your forecast is out, or you need to cut budgets.

God I want to go back to bed just thinking about it.!!

Your day will be as good or as bad as you make it. How you internalise the happenings of the day and the people around you is down to how you are feeling within yourself.

When you get up, go brush your teeth, look yourself straight in the eye and tell yourself “today will be a good day”. Be firm with yourself and maybe say it twice.

When you get in the car, put your favourite holiday or disco music on, and sing a long as loud as you can. Or if classical music is your poison, then fill your boots!

Say “good morning” and SMILE at every single person you see on the way to your desk, and do the same to everyone that walks past your desk.

By sending out this happy positive vibe you will find that you attract the same back. It’s like catching a ‘yawn’.   You can catch other people’s moods just as they can catch yours.

Now when you are sitting in that meeting, don’t look down at your pad or moan about what you no is coming, keep that chipper smile and upbeat attitude. At the end of the day, no-body has died, life isn’t going to stop because you didn’t achieve or do what you needed to do. Don’t let anyone in that room dampen your spirits, after all tomorrow is another day and what ever happens today will be history tomorrow or next week.

If you didn’t manage to get what you wanted this time, take today as the start of a new beginning where you will achieve it next time.

Appreciate who you are, be kind to yourself, work hard and don’t be just a number. Be the person in the office that always has something positive to say, has a smile on their face and inspires others to be great.

If at first you don’t succeed, there’s always another day!
