The business world was very much so at a standstill in the last 200 years. Specifically, during and after the Industrial Revolution in the 18th and 19th centuries there were no major changes in business technology. There existed a very simple system back then, but it’s clear to see now that things will never be the same again. Technology in business is a growing necessity and as time progresses, the more technology and business bind together making it almost impossible to separate the two.
In the 21st century, innovation breeds business, new technology paves the way for it so business without technology cannot be sustained. The fact of the matter is, most if not all major industries would collapse if technology was taken away from business, since the larger portion of business operations involve the use of technology.
Technological Advancements
The rate at which technology is advancing and developing is so fast that in time you will find yourself needing to use it. Technological advancements don’t just develop, they mutate and adapt too making the entire system, operations and transactions even more user friendly, efficient and securer. Technology is science of craft and is ongoing, it does not sit and wait for everyone to adapt to it and learn it. Whether we are ready or not, it will happen. Just take a look at the small list of what mankind has achieved in the last 5 or so years alone:
- The evolution of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and how it has been affected by Cloud services, Websites and Social Media.
- The main use of Social Media on dozens of online and offline platforms and how Social Media has struggled to integrate with consumerism.
- Back-up systems and Cloud-based solutions for small and medium sized businesses.
- Mobile devices being used casually primarily rather than for business or commerce applications.
- The prime and efficient use of the Internet in most aspects of our lives.
- The birth and use of the App Generation
Mobility Solutions
A decade ago, if someone said mobile you would think he meant a mobile phone. Today the word mobile means something entirely different since you can practically control and view your life virtually and on the go. Mobility is in fact one of the best things that’s ever happened. All aspects of your business can be handled from remote locations all over the world with the use of your smart device or tablet. Operations can be completed, transactions can be made, communications can be established at a click of a button. Mobile devices are used to buy, sell, trade, find other businesses or share with your partners, prospects or even social media platform users your retail experiences.
Your own Cloud
Cloud computing is another form of technology that allows all its users to store, manage or process data using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet. It allows on demand expansion and mobility of course without the common crashes or loss of data. Millions of data is transferred or shared on Clouds and used on a minute basis globally, offering efficiency and practicality to many businesses.
Get Connected
With technology evolving so has our means of connecting with each other. You can now choose your way of connecting with your colleagues, co-workers, employees via video, messaging services, streaming online all within seconds. As time moves, so does the technology that comes with your mobile device, creating a hyper-real web of real time information. Platforms like Facebook or Twitter also have implemented messaging services for a more global range of connectivity. So currently connectivity seems endless.
Business changed forever
The important thing here is that technological advancements in businesses will not go away. Businesses need technology to become greater and to remain sustained. In time all businesses will need to ride this wave, move on with time and learn to adapt with technology or they will be wiped out so to say. For instance, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and Robotic technologies, these are uncertain as to how far they will develop and how will we accept them fully into our lives. These technologies cannot go unnoticed but should be considered and researched further because these will affect all large scale businesses.
Ultimately, being left behind is only time consuming and definitely not worth your while in this day and age. As long as you understand technology, how it effects your business and then apply those advancements to your advantage then you will be up to date and reap the rewards of success.
