With total lockdown all over the world, Uncertainty has become one common word of speech. Why is it so tough to handle? Why is it such a horrible state to be in? What should we do about it? Let's find ways to bring that demon to its feet, shall we?
Why is it so tough to handle? Our human brain is not used to such a unique situation of a complete lockdown or similar such environment earlier, so it's finding it very difficult to understand and prepare the appropriate response to it. As you know our Human Brain always LOVE to work within its own routines and anything outside of the Comfort zone is always going to be a tough nut to crack.
Why is it such a horrible STATE to be in? Because it makes us feel lost in the dark. We've all seen people who are 'checked out' walking around like zombies with no life inside of them because of so much change and chaos in life. I've been there and it's very tough. But, it not that tough to handle if we put our thoughts together for our own good.
What should we do about it? Try Something Completely NEW, it will send positive signals to yourself as well to those around you that you're the person to go in times of chaos.
Let me share my personal experience of how I handled 'Uncertainty' in my own life, with the help of a few new habits I built-in 2019.
By the beginning of 2019, I weighed 96.5 kgs and never ever thought of Walking/Jogging in my life. More importantly, I am not a natural athlete by any means. Still, I started walking in 'Besant Nagar Beach, Chennai' during 'Car-free Sunday's'. Initially, it was to feel the bliss of the beautiful sunrise as well as find some peaceful time sitting in the beach sands. Slowly, it started to become a routine of Walking/Jogging early 5am in the morning, especially on Sundays. One fine day, I decided to take part in Marathons, the encouraging statement which we usually tell to our kids came to my mind - 'Participation is more important than Winning'. So far, I have successfully completed two 5K Marathons and three 10K Marathons. Post the lockdown, will definitely continue to participate in ONE MARATHON every month.
Coming to my next experience, till 2018 end I used to be only a 'Book Buyer' and never a religious reader. At the beginning of 2019, I took a book that changed my life altogether from my reading habit standpoint - its 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People' by Stephen R. Covey (it's not just effective, it's to become HIGHLY Effective People). With the much-needed freshness in my READING habit, I completed reading 10 more invaluable books along with listening to 4 audiobooks in the year 2019 and continuing with some mindblowing books in 2020.
The next new habit which I built-in 2019, is the most amazing and the best of all - LIVE THE MOMENT. Trust me, friends, it's not that easy. While living in the technology world, every single second creates one or other distractions into our lives, too much information to process which comes from different sources. The faster the life have become, its more tougher for us to appreciate Humanness. Let's take a deep breath, step out a little from the chaos and enjoy the present moment.
Slowly, the world's lockdown will be revoked and our lives will step into normalcy. Each Human species is unique in their own terms, find your own way to handle your 'Uncertainty'. Build your New Habits, which is going to take your life to great places. Don't be shy to BE CRAZY :-)
