How to handle Christmas like a champion...
…Without giving up on alcohol or having fun.
Afternoon.
Earlier this morning while out walking Nelson I was struck by exactly how cold it is at the moment.
While being wonderfully educated by my wife on her ambitions for the day I suddenly realised my year of making positive changes has finally finished.
Maybe it’s due to the cold weather, maybe I’m ready for another break, I’m unsure.
Either way, the idea of pushing on to achieve a leaner, stronger and better physique has escaped my body as if whisked away by the cold winter air.
Introducing this week’s newsletter...
...Let’s look ahead to Christmas week.
Having checked the calendar it falls nicely this year.
The most important part of Christmas, for many, it’s having a great Christmas dinner, visiting family, and catching up with loved ones.
I’m yet to witness anyone who’s health conscious purposefully go wayward to their own detriment once they’ve given the most challenging week of the year some forward thinking.
Let’s do that now.
Number one - Focus on what’s important.
Time with loved ones, big Christmas dinner and downtime. No need to get heavily drunk for a week and have arguments due to being excessive.
Unless that's your thing then you can stop reading now.
My childhood Christmas memories aren’t great so you can be sure I’ll be present, mindful, and considerate of my nieces, nephews, and granddaughter this Christmas.
It’s a sobering thought but worth highlighting.
As yourself “Who do you want to be this Christmas?” and act accordingly.
Number two - Focus on the feeling.
You want to have fun, your family wants to have fun, everyone wants to have fun.
Focus on that.
Be present, show gratitude and have fun.
Christmas is an emotional time of year. Oftentimes men can be excessive with food and alcohol to consume their emotions. Take on board those feelings instead of consuming them.

“Feels your feels” as I read in a cringe-worthy book last month. Enough said.
Number three - Plan your week.
Having just looked at my diary there are only 3 days which will be written off for various reasons.
If you’re the same we can’t do too much damage.
Also as an aside note sometimes a break can help to “kickstart our metabolism” for want of a better phrase.
Number 4 - Stop Comparing Christmas to any other week of the year.
Comparing your health, weight, and habits over this week to any other is to be avoided.
You’re out of so many routines it’s untrue.
Besides…
“It’s not what you do between Christmas and New Year that counts, but what you do better New Year and Christmas”
Number 5 - Play up, play up, and play the game.
Yes, having a structure and putting yourself in the right frame of mind is essential for an amazing Christmas.
But Christmas isn’t about me, you, and our bulging waistlines.
It’s about family, enjoying each other’s company and reflecting on all the things we have to be grateful for.
Instead of focusing on yourself, focus on them instead. They deserve it.
Have discipline and focus on being there for others. That’s what it’s all about.
Is it always easy?
Of course not.
Nothing worth having in life ever is.

Happy Monday
