Do you have a flawless track record and still feel totally unqualified to lead a project?
There’s a name for that experience.?
It’s called imposter syndrome and you’re not alone if you’ve experienced some form of it over your career (I know I certainly have).?
Psychologists have noted three critical attributes of imposter syndrome:?
? Thinking that people have an exaggerated view of your abilities
? The continuous tendency to downplay your achievements
? The fear of being exposed as a fraud?
?? Tip of the Day?
To move past these feelings, you need to implement a mindset shift.
Here are actionable tips and strategies that have helped me (and many others) overcome the battle against imposter syndrome:
? Talk to other people.?
You’re not alone. Reach out and talk to the people you trust. You’ll quickly realize that a lot of people resonate with you and will tell you that your worries are often unfounded.

1 年Thank you for your article on imposter syndrome Lorraine K. Lee. I most definitely have been there - especially when I've been handed major projects that I've felt were beyond my skillset. But I'm glad I'm not allow. This is a great reminder that many people experience imposter syndrome, even those with a "flawless" track record (which I most definitely don't have ??) . The three critical attributes of imposter syndrome - thinking that people have an exaggerated view of your abilities, the continuous tendency to downplay your achievements, and the fear of being exposed as a fraud - can be challenging to overcome. However, by implementing a mindset shift and talking to other people, we can move past these feelings and realize that our worries are often unfounded.
