Stuck in your legal career or personal life? Let's clarify your goals, overcome obstacles, and enhance your work-life balance.
BUSINESS AS USUAL
Some fathers have allowed their wives to take the primary responsibility for the children and the household.
It is a tradition that has been passed on from one generation to the next.
It doesn't matter whether the wife has a full-time job or not.
MEET HAL
?? Hal was very busy with his solo practice.
?? He was adamant when I asked why he didn't help his working wife.
?? Hal said, "Women are made for this kind of thing. Quite frankly, I don't have the patience."
?? Unfortunately, the tell-tale signs of his wife's fatigue showed up in his relationship with his wife, especially in the bedroom.
?? Hal felt lonely and frustrated most of the time.
COVID HIT
Once Covid hit, everyone was stuck at home.?
The kids had to be homeschooled.?
Although Hal was an observer at first, after seeing how much work his wife had to do besides working remotely, he offered to help.
Hal became to pitch in wholeheartedly while still managing his work and responsibilities.
He realized he enjoyed helping his wife and children.
POST COVID
HAL'S DECISION
"Hal, now that you have experienced how it feels to be an integral part of your family, do you really want to go back, I asked.
Hal retorted, "But I am so busy. I don't have time."
I asked Hal, "Well, there are 168 hours in a week; what CAN you do??
How CAN you help?
Make a list of things you can do to contribute to your family and help your wife."
HAL'S LIST
1?? Be responsible for dinner one night per week.
2?? Wake up the kids in the morning.
3?? Do a couple of loads of laundry each week
4?? Take the kids out to breakfast on Sundays
5?? Barbeque on Sundays
6?? Take each child out for play dates with Dad once per month.
7?? Hire a cleaning lady to come in every two weeks.
8?? Hire a babysitter and take his wife out for a date twice per month.
9?? Take out the trash
?? Make sure to get home by seven.
HAL'S HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS
I asked Hal, "There are 168 hours each week. How many hours would you be willing to pitch in for your family?"
Hal figured thought about it.
He had twelve hours per week to help his wife.
As a result, he felt more connected to his family. His love life and romance returned to his marriage.?
Hal's health improved, his depression lifted, and he had a banner year at work.?
