?? This is something that I see pretty often. From personal experience, successful people develop habits to pursue a quality life that gives them peace of mind and happiness. Here are just a few examples that have helped me cultivate the life that I have dreamed of for years. if you are in your early or mid 20s, I hope you take the time to read this, and if you are older, you might also benefit from this. ??
?? When I was younger, I used to think that success for me would be joining the Marine Corps. While studying for my military entrance exam, I remember thinking about how my life would change the moment I joined the Marine Corps. I was going to become the most successful person I could imagine, and my confidence just from being in the Marine Corps would skyrocket, and I would do 20 years in the military like my father.
??I didn't care about the pay or anything; I just wanted to be able to say I was a United States Marine. I would wear my poole shirt to school and always hang around the recruiters as it seemed to give me empowering confidence about myself and made me feel successful. I spent my time reading Marine Corps history and learning more about how amazing life would be as a United States Marine. I would even pray at night and ask god, "Please allow me to pass the Military Entrance exam so I can become a United States Marine." That was my idea of success when I was younger, and eventually, it changed to a different path in life.
Success Always Changes, But Your Habits Dont
?? What I learned while seeing myself transition into the Marine Corps and the Cybersecurity field is that my idea of success changed as I got older. I no longer wanted to be that 20-year career marine anymore. I didn't feel the driving passion for constantly working hard to be a solid steller marine. I was already a Marine, and for some time, I was content with my success and happy where I was until I wanted to transition into cybersecurity.
?? Two phases in my life that impacted my future were transitioning from civilian life in high school to the Marine Corps and from the Marine Corps to transitioning into the cybersecurity field. Between these transitions was a burning desire and purpose to obtain this idea of success and satisfaction. And one thing that didn't change was the structure of my habits.
Healthy Habits Start With Idea
?? You ever wondered what it was like to try something new, or maybe you try it, and you get those butterfly feelings? Excitement, Happiness, and Curiosity.
That is the Spark ??
?? That feeling can be your golden key to success or your broken key to "only If". The ideas you manifest your time around will build your mental and physical energy. Why is this important?
??Mental Energy: you can think of your ability to think about an idea or maybe think about a positive outcome for a certain amount of time. Developing your mind on the idea for long enough while maintaining your spark of curiosity, excitement, and happiness. In that case, chances are that idea will play a drastic benefit in your mental energy.
?? But this can also negatively affect your ability. For example, if your boyfriend or girlfriend breaks up with you or you're going through a divorce, maybe you loved that person, so you start manifesting the idea of them being happy with someone else. That mental energy can now hurt you rather than benefit you if done for long enough. This eventually spills into your physical energy.
??Physical Energy: This energy is the gears that get you physically performing your habits, such as studying for certificate exams, pursuing higher education, Starting a Business, or making a career transition. Your physical energy is tied to your idea, which is tied to your mental energy. Your idea, if your mental energy gives a positive outcome with excitement, curiosity, and happiness, will allow you to want to perform the habit physically.
Could you tell me why this is Important?
?? This is important because anyone can say they want to build new habits, but when your idea is not in sync with your mental energy and physical energy, you won't be persistent. The idea of why you are making this habit needs to have a positive outcome in your life and leave space for minimum negative ideas. With this, you will be able to be persistent with your habits, which will lead to consistent commitment to your habits over time.

1?? Idea: I want to become a Cybersecurity Analyst and transition out of USMC as I enjoy cybersecurity knowledge more than I enjoy my job in USMC ... ex
2?? Mental Energy: I can't wait to study because I'll get closer to my goal of being a cybersecurity analyst. I have to read at least one chapter of my study guidebook every day. I can't wait to read this chapter because I'm learning about SDLC and ex. I might do some programming projects to enhance my skills as well.
3?? Physical Energy: This involves physically acting as my idea is strong, including my "why." My mental energy is focused on pursuing the studying and learning aspect of enforcing my idea, which will help me feel better about my transition to cybersecurity. I got to do this every day until I got out of USMC and obtained my dream job.
There is no perfect subscription, Course, or certificate that will help you.
??I have said quite often that there are overwhelming courses, certificates, and subscriptions that will "CLAIM" to help you. But let me break your heart for second. Those training resources will only help you if you are mentally in the right mindset. Let me say that again... If you dont have the right mental mindset, it will never work, and you will see no progress with your studies or career ambitions.
?? You could save so much money on courses, certificates, and subscriptions if you focus on training your mindset to hone in on your idea. If your mental energy is not positive and your "why" is not as strong as your idea. Then, you will not waste your physical energy performing that task you want to complete. It's pretty simple, as I learned the hard way.
?? I failed my security + three times, not because I was not smart enough to pass the exam. However, my mental energy was focused on chasing women, playing video games, drinking, and just being lazy and watching TV, which tricked my physical energy. My why was not as strong as my idea. So I didn't take it too seriously. The second time i took the exam i started developing my mindset but again i still had really bad habits and my idea was not as strong as my why. I would buy the BEST courses and purchase the best subscriptions with all the resources online to pass the exam. I would study for three hours every day. But I still failed.
Why?
?? Again, my idea was not as strong as my why. It was not until I moved to Florida that I honed in on why I wanted to break into cybersecurity. And my "why" I wanted to commit to this transition went to 100% rather than 90%. You see, even if you are the smartest person in the room, it only takes one bad idea to destroy your mental and physical energy for the long term.
What I Recommend
You need to start cutting bad habits out of your life and restructure your way of thinking before you start wasting money on all these courses, certificates, and subscriptions. This can be as simple as an idea of "Why should I make my bed in the morning?" and mentally, "My bed will be prepared for me by later tonight when I go to bed and can prevent allergies from getting the sheets while creating a more neat/relaxing environment." and pushing your physical energy toward making your bed. Keep that consistent habit and positive idea strong for a week or two. Once you become persistent, start with that habit. This will help you strengthen your ideas for structuring healthy habits. When you feel ready, I would purchase one course, certificate voucher, or subscription and practice using that energy to build the habit for one month. This is what helped me, and it can help you as well. Remember, life is tough, and things will come up in your life that might distract you and change your energy. But if you can keep that "Idea" and "Why" strong, you will not cut off your habit.
Summary
I dont want you to have a bad mindset if you are serious about transitioning into the cybersecurity field or any field in general. It would help if you honed your idea. Cybersecurity isn't just a technical field. It is also a mental and physical field, especially if you are making a transition. You need to build good habits that can persist over time. If you do not have good habits, cut it out of your life. Sure, some people transitioned into the field with bad habits, but they might have taken longer to reach their goals, and got used to being inconsistent, and just got lucky. Your mind is a certificate itself. If you can pass the mental and physical exam of building habits, you can pass any obstacle thrown your way during this transition. This isn't easy, and your idea needs to be very strong.
