How to guarantee that your Wellbeing strategy fails
Anna Daniels
Director of Investor Relations at Growthdeck - Venture Capital & Private Equity
So it’s your project. You have been given vague guidelines and pointers from above. Now it’s all up to you and your imagination.
We probably met you at the last Health And Wellbeing At Work event. You were perhaps the one who came and said, ‘we have done massages, so we need something new’. Or maybe you were the one who said, ‘I am running out of ideas of what to do this year’.
The fact that you (and other HR Managers, Wellness Officers, and Talent Directors) are running around, fishing for ‘something new’ is nothing to do with a lack of ideas or imagination. It's to do with the approach.
The best way to ensure that your Wellbeing strategy is not working is to skip the basic step of fact-finding. Can you find your way on a map if you don't know where you are?
We all need the ‘you are here’ dot that will help us to set off in the right direction. At Daniels Group we have the skills and expertise to find your dot. We bring in experts who will conduct health check of your staff and together with you will then work out the direction in which to move forward.
It might be a case of tackling sleep deprivation, creating healthy eating habits and managing energy levels. Or even introducing mindfulness and activity sessions.
Fact: we have recently saved an employer substantial £30,000* by alerting a member of staff of their health problem (through our health assessment and cholesterol testing). A referral to their GP and a quick medication prescription meant that the employee missed less than a day at work.
Compare that with the cost of a long term sickness pay, possible recruitment and retraining of someone new. Not to mention saving your employee’s life – thanks to your Wellbeing intervention.
You know it makes sense.

8 年Great stuff Anna. Encouraging employees to take personal responsibility for their health is so important. Couple this with an embedded strategy and senior management commitment and it guarantees success!
