How to Grow in Career? Value Vs Tech

What is your Big Bold Objective in Career? This is the basic and most important question you must ask to self before deciding the journey further. For me the BBO is to prove my abilities and become a HR Leader who can uplift others along with scaling up Business values.

Once the above question is answered, next step is to define your Short-Term Goals (STG) and Long-Term goals (LTG) with clear Milestones to be achieved at different phases of your career Journey. TO define your STG and LTG you must understand the Value preposition model, Your Skills, Competencies and Capabilities in detail. It is recommended to stay upgraded with skillsets by continuous learning and on the Go there will be many new things which you can focus and learn practically.

Here are some tips you can use to Grow Successfully in your Career Journey:

  • Unlearn / Relearn Frequently: With the evolution of Technology Day by day it is very critical for us to Unlearn few things which are outdated or obsolete and focus on learning things that are in sync with the current and future market trends be it in terms of technology, Process, People etc., Upskilling is the most important and mandatory element which ignite the success spark in the career.
  • SMART Goals Defined: It is very essential that you should have a clear definition of goals - Short-Term or Long-Term along with the milestones that need to be achieved. Goals must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic or Relevant and Time-Bound. While defining you keep in mind your passion, Purpose, Interest levels, Confidence levels, Strengths, Learning Agility, Value add preposition to ensure win-win situations
  • Rise up & take New Opportunities: As an individual it is now the time to be prepared to accept new opportunities and challenges, don't wait for something to come on to your table. Keep Analyzing the business process and problems and think if you can bring some value by having a potential solution for the issues faced by business. Not just monitory growth determine success alone, it is how much valuable you are as an asset to the organization which is critical

  • Be a Coach or Mentor: Individual success is not real success, working in a team is the real challenging part and it is the opportunity for you to become a coach to your team. Share your experience, expertise, Knowledge with the team on regular basis, conduct brainstorming sessions to generate new ideas and solutions. This will also give an option to gain knowledge from team. It is a two-way approach which will help boosting up team morale, Team spirit and enhance the team rapport to achieve the success in projects. Delegate certain tasks to junior team and help them grow too by guiding them as and when needed. Mutual growth trio (Individual - Team- Organization) is the key.
  • Leverage on Digitalization: We are lucky enough to be in the era of technology which can ease certain operational tasks and shift our focus towards strategic growth. There are many disruptive technologies like

  1. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Machine Learning (ML)
  2. Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR),
  3. Metaverse (future of work),
  4. Internet of Things (IoT)
  5. Blockchain

These are some of the advanced technologies which gives immense opportunities to upskill and bring more value to self and organization equally.
