How to grab the attention of big corporates

How to grab the attention of big corporates

Grabbing the attention of key decision-makers in the corporate world is often hugely valuable but can be difficult because so many people are vying for their time.

And the higher up you go within a company the harder it is to get yourself in front of or around the right people.

So you need to be creative and think of ways you can grab the attention, particularly of those all-important executives, so that they actively want to spend time with you.

In the corporate world, I used to do the following on a regular basis and got coaches and consultants in front of CEOs, MDs and HRDs of FT250 companies.

Now, none of this is rocket science but when you do these activities on a regular basis you build your reputation and over a period of time it makes it much easier to get in front of those all-important senior execs.

Run events

We would run supper or breakfast meetings for 15-20 clients.

And although the event was always run in an exclusive and private space and we had a keynote speaker I found the CEOs relished the chance to get together in this way and they loved being able to network with their peers in an informal but still very business-like setting.

Facilitate lunch meetings

We always found out whom our clients wanted to network with and would facilitate a lunch meeting to bring the two parties together.

It was a small and intimate meeting. Our clients were always thankful that we made this happen and they remembered us as being the company that connected people and had a route into every business in London. ?

Industry Research

At least once a year, sometimes twice, we would carry out a piece of industry research and share the findings with key clients in a one-to-one meeting before it was launched publicly.

Our clients loved getting the results first because they could take that information to their board directors before the market got its hands on it.

And these clients would then attend our press launches and could have more in-depth conversations with journalists because they had discussed their positioning with their fellow board directors and had ‘agreed their positioning’ – this is about controlling the narrative.

Visibility

As a business, we wanted to be seen as the ‘go-to’ organisation for executive coaching and therefore it was key that we invested in raising our profile and used PR as a means to do this…no social media in those days.

Remember though that none of this happens overnight – this is a long-term strategy and it can take 12 months or more to build a good strong foundation. However, once you have that, you can build from there with confidence and the opportunities are endless.

Do you have a plan to get in front of those all-important executives within organisations who have the budget to buy your services?

Hi, I’m Carole Bernadette Bozkurt and I’m a Sales Coach, Marketing Strategist and Business Mentor. I work with coaches and consultants to help them get the clients they deserve on demand. My clients are hugely talented and passionate about what they do but struggle to deliver the outcomes they need when it comes to selling themselves and their services.

I have worked closely with hundreds of coaches and consultants who go from earning hundreds of pounds per month to thousands of pounds per month and to the position of running 6 and 7-figure-a-year businesses.

In my last corporate role, I headed up marketing across Europe for the world’s largest actuarial consultancy in the financial management division. Before that, I worked for a company that pioneered executive coaching in the UK and we?worked with over 50% of the FTSE 100 at main Board level.

The Inspire Summit was brilliant. Congratulations on creating such a great event and bringing together so many industry experts. I've focused more on raising my visibility during the last 6 months. I've done a combination of things from joining network groups, to writing articles for magazines and being available to do more speaking events. I'm still deciding which combinations work best for me as an introvert.
