Artificial intelligence has been making a significant impact on many industries, and writing is just one example. AI-powered writing tools have been making waves in the content creation world this year. Using them, users can create articles, blog posts, and other forms of content at breakneck speed. But, with great power comes great responsibility, and the rise of AI writing tools has sparked concerns for Google. In order to understand Google's stand, it is imperative to analyze how serious the current game is and what vulnerabilities exist in existing technology.
The Inside Scoop:
OpenAI's ChatGPT, a chatbot capable of answering queries with stunning conversational responses, has left Google behind. Due to its cautiousness about its business, reputation, and customer relationships, Google has long touted natural language search as its future. LaMDA, the company's more sophisticated chatbot compared to ChatGPT, remains in research mode since chatbots are often incorrect, but they appear confident. In addition, Google's business model makes money from ad clicks next to search results, making it difficult to integrate ads into conversational responses.
In many companies, Chat GPT has already replaced their human writers. As Google has taken steps to ensure that the content on its search results pages is of the highest quality, AI-based articles could also pose a problem for such companies for many reasons that I have discussed in this article. On a lighter note- such companies may have to deal with Karma for not spotting a few red flags in their new relationship with artificial intelligence and ditching their loyal humans. I would like to mention a few:
Quality Content - A Thing of the Past?
AI writing tools, like Chat-GPT, have often been criticized for not being able to produce standout content. The lack of facts and creativity caused by AI tools is the result of relying on preexisting templates, old data, and content. As Google's search engine is known for producing high-quality, original content, it is likely to take aim at AI writing tools that fall short in this regard.
Duplicate Content - SEO-centric Content Writers' Worst Nightmare
There is also the possibility of duplicate content when using AI writing tools. In a situation where multiple websites use the same AI tool to generate articles, it's like déjà vu all over again as the same articles start appearing on multiple sites. As we saw in the second half of 2022, this not only creates a poor user experience but it also violates Google's guidelines for top-notch content.

Human Writers - The Unsung Heroes
Artificial intelligence tools are about to make things tougher for human writers since they're going to be able to produce articles much faster and less expensively. It can be challenging for human writers to keep up, and Google's reputation for supporting creativity, originality, and human connections will likely come to their rescue by AI-nihilating these writing tools.
AI-ssassination of the Chat GPT- What can Google do?
Since this article is merely intended to highlight the existing tool on the market, I won't discuss what Google plans to offer with its upcoming tool, for which it partnered with Anthropi and invested $300 million as part of a “code red” plan.
In order to maintain its high standard of content on its search results pages (and, more importantly, its business), Google is about to AI-attack such writing tools. We are about to witness the first battle between bot-sniffers. As AI-generated content continues to rise, the need for AI-detection tools has become increasingly relevant. The results of these tools are usually accurate, and they can determine whether an article was written by an AI algorithm or by a human. In my own experience, I have tested both my own written articles and those generated by Chat GPT, and 95% of the time, the results were accurate. This could mean disaster for the industry of AI-written content if Google adopts these tools. If Google uses these tools, it is possible for AI-written articles to be flagged accurately, which may result in a reduction in domain authority for websites and a headache for SEO developers and content writers.
The question remains, however, as to what Google's own chatbot will offer in the near future and how it will compete against existing tools, including Chat GPT. Google can crawl millions of websites in no time. Wouldn't it be great if its own chatbot produced more accurate output in real-time? Stay tuned to see how Google will AI-mpact the content creation industry in the very near future!
