How Google Changed My Behaviour
I have been using free email on abhikprasad.com since 2009.
I probably never converted because I didn't need the additional features.
Over the years, I have moved from Lotus Notes (first job at TCS) to Microsoft Outlook, to Apple Mail Client (gmail and non gmail ids) to finally using gmail at work on the web.
It was really hard for me use gmail for work in the web browser simply because I was habituated to an email 'client'.
One nifty feature at a time, Google eventually broke my habit. (I think the game changer was - 'When you send a google doc link to a bunch of people by pasting it in the email body, gmail pops up with a check asking if you would like to give your email receivers access to the doc'
And now, 16 years later, Google is finally going to monetise a free user.
Are you trying to get your customers to change their user behaviour ?
If yes, would love to pick your brain.
Why?
At Minko, we are trying to form new habits among small group of the 1.8crore retailers and shop owners in India - getting used to tech, using credit as a growth lever and using tech to turn local clients into loyal clients, so they can be armed for the upcoming competition from the likes of BlinkIt, Zepto, Jio Dunzo and the likes.
Here are some links to how we are shaping user behaviour. DM if you would like jam / build it together.
And, Thank you Google for the free service for 12 years. I will pay up :)
