I go all school-girl giddy with a good echo and amplification of my voice, and it never gets old.
While traveling with my family in Italy in 2019, we visited the Tower of Pisa grounds.? While my husband and boys visited the tower.? I had my eyes set on the Baptistery, with its perfect dome that the Duomo only rivals in Florence.
When you walk into the dome - there are signs everywhere asking you to be quiet because even the slightest sound is magnified.? But, I couldn’t resist.
The Baptistry wasn’t meant in my mind to be silent; it was meant to sing.
So I sang.? Quietly, almost a whisper - my favorite hymn, “For The Beauty of the Earth.” It lends itself perfectly to singing slowly and with restraint.
The way the dome amplified my voice was such a wonder and work of art; it brought tears to my eyes.? Someone’s vision, a dream of a humble but beautiful space that came to life and has stood for almost 1000 years. Sheer beauty.
Works of nature and architecture that create wonder with sounds like echoes and amplifications are a joy to hear and witness.
The gift is the experience while you are there, but you can leave when you tire of the sound.?
Echo and amplification can work against you in some areas - like your business.? Where it is too easy to create an echo chamber of our worries, doubts, and concerns - they can turn us deaf to opportunities, possibilities, and potential.
Repeated over time (and it takes less time than you think), those thoughts based on fear and often not true will become a personal and self-fulfilling truth. Getting stuck here will lead you down the path to burnout because you won’t be able to see a way out.
One of the keys to success is to seek out and foster different business perspectives.? These perspectives can show us new possibilities but also help us avoid pitfalls.? They can re-invigorate our get-up-a-go and show us the person we could become.
These perspectives can help cast aside the fears when they pop up and help short-cut our journey to success.? And often, they can shine a light on things you can’t see for yourself because you are too close.
We do that with crystal clarity for many business owners, not just our clients. We can often find the gaps, the right path, or be a sounding board to all the thoughts surrounding a bold move.
It’s lonely to be at the top, the one in charge of your business - everyone looks to you for direction, strength, and answers.
Who do you look to gain another perspective? Who do you go to bounce ideas off - or to get challenged in your business?? If you want to create predictable profits to grow and scale without burnout - we could be there for you; you only need to ask.
