How to get your resume noticed?

When you're applying for a job, your résumé is one of the most important tools you have to get your name out there.?

But how can you make sure that it catches the recruiter's eye??

You might be tempted to use fancy formatting or include every detail of your work history, but is that really the best way to stand out?

Check out a few tips for getting your résumé noticed!

Résumés are scanned for about six seconds, so make sure the most important information is easy to find.

Where do the recruiters look at your resume first?

• Career Summary. Make sure you use a career summary over career objectives.
• Work Experience. Your current and past work experience should make sense in the context of the Job Description.
• Skill Set. Use the exact words for the skills mentioned in the Job Description.

Tell Relevant stories of your Accomplishments and Achievements in your current and past jobs.

A story doesn’t need to be long. It can be just a couple sentences illustrating how well you accomplished a certain result.

Be strategic while choosing the stories, and use numbers.

They should highlight what value you’ll be bringing to the Job Role if you're hired.

And I am sure if you look deep into your career with awareness, you can find plenty of them.?

You are a much bigger talent than you think!

Use Relevant Skills and Competencies in the Correct Order.

By correct order, I mean the way they have been mentioned in the Job Description.

For example, if “Attention to detail” is the competency that shows up at the top, this should be somewhere at the top in your resume too.

Even better, use a sentence or two to tell an achievement story about this skill.

Show your Personality in your resume

Your resume should be a good authentic reflection of who you are as a person.

And how do you do that?

By being honest and using the words that best describe you at different places such as:

• Career summary,?
• Work experience,?
• Stories,
• Interests etc.

Make sure your resume is maximum 2 pages.

If you are a beginner, you may not have much to tell. And please don’t fill it with irrelevant details. One page is enough.

And even if you have a rich long work experience, resist the temptation to exceed two pages.

Now that you know how to make your résumé stand out, it’s time to put your new skills into action.

Remember, the best way to get noticed is to be different and memorable.

So take a chance and show off your personality in your next application, and get started on that great new career journey.
