How to get your next Netflix project funded?...Invest in Dogecoin
Hollywood director Carl Erik Rinsch has come up with a new way for "Peter to rob Paul". His production company allegedly received $55 million from Netflix for an upcoming series "Conquest". Initially entrusted with a $44 million payment for the yet to be released show (see NYT article, essential reading for all budding directors! https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/22/business/carl-rinsch-netflix-conquest.html")
Rinsch then requested an additional $14 million from Netflix, citing "essential production needs". He allegedly redirected a portion of the production budget to invest in Dogecoin after losses in the stock market. The huge turnaround in fortunes came when Rinsch reportedly cashed out an impressive $27 million saving his bacon, and Netflix a little less embarrassment. For certain this will drive changes in Netflix standard contracts with Production companies. When taking in Netflix cash for the purposes of making a film /or tv series you should not go “off to the races” / or maybe they'll make it a new requirement that all Directors are Crypto litereate investors with a taste for risk and a penchant for reward.
This unconventional sojourn has me wondering; Is Rinsch a visionary director? A crypto maverick?...or perhaps just a naughty boy? And will we ever see "Conquest"? ...I'd watch just to see if funding drama makes good onscreen product. What a great intriguing tale of Hollywood meets Crypto! I can smell the pilot, perhaps I can sell it to HBO Max or Hulu.
