How to get on your JV partner’s radar

Ever tried to get someone’s attention, but no matter what you say, they keep ignoring you?

You email them….

You Whatsapp them….

You send them a direct message on Linkedin…

But nothing. No response. Crickets….?

Marketing can be frustrating sometimes..?

I reach out to dozens of JV partners every single day.?

Not everyone responds.?

But I get it.?

Their mailboxes are full to overflowing…..?

Their whatsapp inbox is pinging every 5 seconds….

The social media inboxes are full of spam….

They are overwhelmed.?

Even your most intriguing email can get lost in the mountain of messages.?

But I want to ask you another question.?

Think for a minute about those who do respond to you.?

Why do they reply to your messages?

  • Because they know you
  • Because they are used to hearing from you
  • Because you have something relevant to say to them

And I’d like to suggest there is something else going on.?

You are communicating in a way designed to get their attention.

Last week, I was in Birmingham UK for a special event called UpLift Live.?

The event was about everything LinkedIn related.?

Leading LinkedIn experts from both Europe and the USA shared their insights on how to get noticed on the platform.?

Everything LinkedIn related was covered from company pages, to live video, to social selling.?

But there was one presenter who blew me away….

John Espirian, co-host of the event, AKA “Captain LinkedIn”. If there’s anything you need to know about the platform he’s the person to ask.?

During his session he spoke about the challenge of getting noticed on LinkedIn, and the fact that users rarely bother reading or responding to direct messages.?

But there was one thing he said that did work.?

And that was the sending of personalized video messages and voice messages.?

  • They’re? unusual, so they create intrigue → users are curious to see / hear the message
  • ?They are easier to digest than a wordy message (remember your audience are time poor!)
  • They are personal, so they don’t look like another automated message.?

But I think the real reason they are so successful for John is because of everything else he does.?

John Espirian’s tagline is “relentlessly helpful” and that’s exactly what he is.?

Just take a look at his LinkedIn feed. It’s a treasure trove of actionable insights, tips and all the latest news to help you get the most of LinkedIn.?

You just can’t help reading his posts and responding to his direct messages because they are so…relentlessly helpful!

What he has to say is relevant, it speaks to me.?

But most importantly he is top of mind, posting on a daily basis, appearing regularly in my feed, reminding me of his presence.?

So here is today’s takeaway…..

If you want to woo new JV partners, it’s vital that you actually have something relevant to say to them…..?

Something that is going to actually help them…..?

And it helps if you personalize what you have to say to them…..

But the most important way to getting noticed by JV partners is being visible.?

The occasional post and email doesn’t cut it.?

You need to regularly interact with your target audience.?

They need to keep seeing your emails....?

They need to keep seeing your messages....

They need to keep seeing your posts....?

If you’re top of feed, you’re top of mind
