How To Get Your Brand Noticed on Social Media?
The age old problem. Or at least the new age problem. How the hell do I get my brand noticed on social media?. It’s annoying, frustrating and sometimes even heart-breaking. But, does it have to be this way? Absolutely not. Here’s how you can improve your brand awareness effectively & profitably on the social machine!
Hashtags are Useless
Okay, this isn’t exactly completely true but it made a good heading. So they’re kind of useless, but it depends on your specific case.?
The problem with Hashtags
Okay so think about this. #love has around 1.835 billion posts. Do you think that your content will get noticed if you just use this one hashtag? Of course not. Unless you have like a million followers already. In which case you might not need to use hashtags in any way. Also, then you wouldn’t be reading this article as well!
But since we’re both here, let’s figure this one out.
So the thing is, there’s just too much content on social media. The average organic reach on Instagram and Facebook is just around 5% to 8%. Which means, only 5% to 8% of your followers will actually see your content in their feeds. Also, you aren’t the only handle that they follow.
So handles with a humongous following will obviously get priority. Which also means that the chances of your content getting lost are quite high bro.
The Long Way to Social Media Fame
Simple thing to understand is that social media takes time to crack. It’s not a one day/week/month/year thing. Gradual growth is the key here. Yes, you can get kind of instant growth by throwing huge sums of money at it, but then can you sustain that level of marketing expense?
For most of you, the answer is a big no. Or at least a small no. Or a no of some kind. You get the point right?
So then how do you get this long term growth?
Tailor you content to match your target audiences. Don’t just sell all the time. Focus on creating a mix of content. Some promotional content mixed with a lot of value-added content usually does the trick.
Create an ideal consumer persona. Who are you selling to? What does your ideal customer look like? Focus on building communities. Use cross-posting to build your follower base.?
All of these things however, take time.?

The Short(ish) way to social media fame
So then what’s the short-cut??
I don’t know about a short-cut, but I do know of a way to make your job easier.
Two words. Paid marketing.
Now because there is so much content on social media, as we established earlier, organic reach will take time. Paid media will allow you to kind of jump the line, depending on how you use it.
Let’s unpack this. Facebook has its own advertising platform. Now what is the point of this platform? The end goal of course is to generate revenue. If people are easily able to connect with their target audience organically, then what does that give Facebook?
So of course organic reach would be quite bad on Instagram & Facebook. But that’s not such a bad thing.
Paid ads offer you the ability to target the right audiences. Iit helps you put your content in front of the right pair of eyes. Also compared to other platforms, Facebook Ads are cheaper to run per day. If we talk about lead generation, then the quality of leads from Facebook Ads are quite uneven. But, they’re great for creating brand awareness because of their huge reach.
So paid social media marketing helps you reach people faster than organic marketing. Not saying that organic marketing is useless, but what paid marketing does is that it puts some powerful engines on your social media marketing efforts.?
Yes you end up paying money, but you do get better control in return which I don’t think is such a bad deal to be honest.
The Bottom Line
Here’s a tip for people who want to save money. Only spend on content that truly matters. Not every content needs to be boosted/advertised.?
Which is why it’s quite important to plan your content in advance. Think about the end goals of every piece of content that you create. Then, you can take the call on which post needs to be marketed using paid means.?
Using both paid and organic marketing will be quite ideal for any brand that wants to make a name for itself on social media. Getting noticed is just the first hurdle. Sustaining that awareness and riding that wave without falling off will be a bigger challenge.?
Building communities, create awareness ads, tailor your content and offer a ton of value. If you do that on a consistent basis, then I think you would be rocking the social media scene in no time.
