How to get it totally wrong
Four weeks ago we started an investigation, which involved a very influential Russian. His English wife hired us to find out if he was seeing another woman.
After five days of surveillance we could not find anything which supported that fact. After explaining everything to his wife, she still insisted we carry on. We decided the only way to find out his infidelity was to put in a honey trap, which involved a beautiful tall Russian lady.
But how to do it? He never went out to clubs, pubs or restaurants, he just went to work and came back. Obviously we were keeping surveillance on him at work as well. Then we had a cunning plan! As he was leaving for work, we would get the girl to walk by him before he got into his car. She would be carrying a Harrods bag containing a glass vase, the vase was not from Harrods it was from a pound shop. The idea was, she would drop the bag and fall over in front of him just as he walked over to his car, hopefully he would stop to help and have a conversation with the girl and ask her out.
On a miserable, damp, cloudy day with four men in cars, we started the operation. A screech came down the two-way radio " he's coming out of his house". The girl quickly got out of the car and walked towards his car. With the keys in his hand he started to open the door. The girl screamed, dropped the bag, shattering the glass everywhere. He started to walk towards her when three builders suddenly appeared, rushed over and lifted her up. He turned round, got in the car and drove off. If it was only like a television programme things would be much easier, but it's not. Steve Grayson
