  1. Step 1: Incorporate your business entity

The first step of the Start up India registration process is to incorporate a business that’s also a legal entity. Only Limited Liability Partnerships (LLP) , Private Limited Companies or? Registered Partnership Firm can opt for DPIIT recognition.?

  1. Step 2: Create an Account on Startup India Portal?

If you already own a registered business or firm, then proceed to the Startup India portal and create your login profile. This is the first step to register your company or firm as a Startup.

  1. Step 3: Apply For DPIIT Recognition

After completing Startup India registration you should now apply for DPIIT recognition in following manner:

  • On the Recognition tab click on “Apply for DPIIT Recognition”
  • Now click on the ?‘Apply Now' tab.?
  • It will take you to the ‘National Single Window System (NSWS)’ website. Now register on the NSWS website, add form ‘Registration as a Startup’ and fill ‘Startup Recognition Form’ to get DPIIT recognition.?

  1. Step 4: Self Certification

While applying for Startup India registration, you need to self certify the following:

  • That the business is an original entity
  • That business seeking registration as Startup is not a result of any split or reconstruction of an existing company or a joint venture
  • Majority of shares are with Indian promoters
  • Mention if the company is funded or bootstrapped

  • Certificate of Incorporation or Registration of Startup
