How to get started with Generative AI – Our very own lessons learned
Amongst all the hype surrounding generative AI, Ignite’s team of data engineers, data scientists and architects decided it was time to throw their hat in the ring – and see what they could build.
First, they asked themselves – where could it actually add value? What are some of our bigger pain points as an organisation?
The initial opportunity was something that could both grow the team’s capabilities and leverage the knowledge that the business already had – providing an opportunity to uplift new starters and cross-skill existing team members.
“We have a wealth of information at Ignite – years of documentation related to projects, use cases and technical designs. We wanted to find a way to make this knowledge easily accessible to new team members,” says Kris Hunter, Manager, Consulting Services.

How “energy-hungry AI” is straining grids and spreading climate disinfo
Ignite: A lot of the conversation around AI is focused on how it’s revolutionising industries and increasing efficiency. However, what’s less talked about is the fact that a single AI search query requires “10 times the energy of a Google Search”. With the?energy use from data centres responsible for powering AI set to double by 2026, this could pose a significant problem in the short-term.
