How to get a seat at the table: make your own.

Oslo for AI aims to open up new possibilities for the governance of AI.

Launched today, Oslo for AI is a year-long project that will invite participants to co-design a new kind of constitutional process. Their collaborative work will create new possibilities for the governance of AI and other pervasive technologies. Led by Michael Anton Dila , Oslo for AI will bring together collaborators and participants from across North America, the UK and Europe.

Oslo for AI is an expeditionary

Participants will be drawn from each of nine different regions as the project travels from month to month. Small groups of 8-12 will spend three full days in an immersive, intimate and intentional process of constitutional co-design. Diversity of age, background, and experience will ensure a requisite variety of perspectives contribute to the intelligent inquiry at the heart of the project's process.

Oslo for AI is participatory

Working with global leaders in governance and new democracy movements, the project will culminate in the demonstration of a new kind of constitutional capability, a form of collective intelligence capable of informing new models of governance that can be trusted, competent and authorized in ways that current institutions are not.

Why Oslo for AI?

The project's name is an homage to the scale and intention of the Oslo peace process, which demonstrated the capacity of a small group of people, gathered in an immersive, intimate and intentional way, to make unprecedented advances in the cause of peace.

Oslo cannot wait

We believe that we cannot and should not wait for existing actors to simply decide for us all how AI should be governed as we move into this unprecedented age. We believe all people can play a role in finding new ways to live well together, and to imagine the possibility of better futures tigether, beyond the walls of current systems and institutions.

Oslo for AI is for the hopeful

We intend to show that this new direction is possible and hope that, in so doing, many others will follow by creating even more examples of progressive and constructive participation in the future of better governance.

Michael Anton Dila thanks for the invitation. I feel so strongly about this and I’ve been researching in my non technical capacity how to combat bias while embracing all the innovative potential re all things AI.
